Text is easier to read in game. Zoomed to about 3.5x in this pic. Color schemes need some tweaking. The "63" is range to target and is labelled "range to target", just get splotchy w screen cap.

text in the upper left is debug & testing stuff, not a gameplay feature.

note the APCs have ready and stowed rounds (hence the "1" at the bottom indicating their is 1 stowed magazine). red splotchy text is indicating 153 rounds in current mag and the yellow text beside that is the currently selected ammo type.

also note the 8 man APC capacity.

aside from the mobile spawn point .. another cool touch is that APCs (and Tanks) are entered and exited at the hatch locations. So you get into the LAV from the back, the Type 99 from the top of the turret and the BTR-90 from the doors on the side

Apache still wip, not until v0.6; APC huds in v0.5.

There's still some buggy stuff in v0.5 but I think this will be a decent first effort to focus more intently on improving vehicular combat.

Nice Job on the HuD though, I really like it. 8 man APC's FTW!!

Yeah I think it is a great change. Minor detail point that adds a LOT of immersion (or at least avoid disrupting it with magically walking through the front of a moving tank).

Am glad that we're starting to get to some nice little details and a bit o' polish.

I can't stop laughing inside at how many crashes there are going to be when people try to fly the choppers. Mwahahahahaha

On that note, egg the new engines are my absolute fav change in the new build.

I always wondered how the hell they got into the APC's in real life.

One thing i noticed in 0.4 is that you can switch from HEAT to AP rounds instantly in APC's. I'm no APC Gunner in real life, but i'm sure there's gotta be some sort of delay from when switching ammo type. Like how it is in MBT's.

Oh yeah, there ain't gonna be no crashes from me smartass. Local server > smart ***. :D

J/k, i'm sure i'll crash. Don't suspend me.

no the choppers now need a warm up period, matched to the sound and turret rotation (still tweaking that).

actually most vehicles will be getting a tweak to require that you warm them up a bit (instead of jumping in and racing off).

Very Nice. As I have said before I love the smallest changes that can come in and make the game just THAT much more balanced and realistic while still maintaining a fun side.

you know things like this are gonna happen, 2 people race for a tank, first one jumps up top and starts her up, as 2nd person jumps on the hull as the tank moves off and is squshed agaisnt the turrent

Does that mean all the other vehicles will have the "kangaroo petrol" start of the Saxon on Ghost train?

will the saxon get a little tweak as well so its not as laggy sort of when first driving it?

Posted: 2007-01-13 11:57

The SAXON's start up has been smoothed out. No more rolling over invisible rocks.

The crashes in the helicopters I'm talking about will be caused by ramping the peddles down through the warm up. If you try to take off while the engine is warming up it will just cause you to tip forward and do a forward flip to death face-plant stunt.

It's as if you were trying to do a front flip off a diving board into a brick wall.
