After having reinstalled the game, each time I try to launch a map in co-op the game crashes at 15%, leaving me with the following error:

Debug assertion failed!

Exact same problem here on windows 8.1. Hopefully somebody knows how to fix this.

Edit: I'm guessing the file in the torrent is somehow corrupted. Currently downloading from another source to give it another try.

Edit: Downloaded from another mirror (ModDB), uninstalled and reinstalled, same error at 15% while loading a map. Fuck.

Well I'll be damned. After doing a full reinstall as opposed to just deleting the content in the install location and reinstalling using the file from the modDB mirror as opposed to the torrent, the problem was solved on my end. Now the game is just literally taking over 10 minutes to load a map...

I fixed it with the aforementioned method. Thanks.
