I ahve just downloaded PR for teh first time. When the game starts up it seems to stretch over two screens, even though I only have one screen. This doesn't happen with BF2 Vanilla.
Any suggestions on how to get it back to one screen?
I have a Nvidia GEForce FX5500 card.
Please help!

WHAT?? err have you check your resolotion options in the options section (may be at a lowwer res to your screen).

Lol you need to tune down your resolution. This happens to me when I try to play my game at all high and the highest resolution. So either tune down your resolution or tune down your quality setting.

(judging by your graphics card: low)

I don't know if that card is going to cut the mustard on Bf2.
Did not see it on the supported list. I know people have been able to run the game with lesser cards like the 5200 but you will need to lower your vid settings Like Randleman said. Try 800x600 with all the settings on low.

Good Luck

hint : make sure your desktop is at the same resolution as the resolution you choose for gaming. This can avoid some problems.

As a beginner, make sure in options you change "T1" to "256k", make sure audio settings hasn't got "EAX" ticked if you haven't got the proper hardware. Realise that PR needs more power graphically than vBF2, so you will end up with lower settings now from when you were used to playing vbF2

But does it in fact cut the cheese?

i never really got this, why is it all mods require more power then the orignal game? is it because you are basically playing the orignal plus other stuff on or something?

Yep. It loads all the original stuff, with changes that were made, plus, stuff that we added, and then of course you have specific maps which can be heavily detailed and may cause your system resources to take a greater hit.

I think this thread just helped me lol, cheers.
My normal BF2 runs fine, I used to run everything on High...now on Medium.
With this Mod it runs worse, alot worse.
Looks like Ill have to turn down some settings? :(

How do I detune my resolution when I can't get into the game cos the login box is on the right hand side of the screen (off-screen).
Do you mean go to 800x600 on Windows desktop?
Sorry if I sound dumb! :o ops:
My graphics card normally works fine with vBf2.

PS. where's the best place online to get a decent graphics card for under £180 ??? Just wondering!

try appending the startup parameters in the shortcut. I don't know the command personally, but try "-res800x600". Don't know really.

Thanks.....so far!

Hang on...if you raise the "desktop" resolution everything gets smaller, by lowering resolution on desktop your making images and text larger. The native resolution for BF2 is 1024 x 768 so set your desktop to that or higher and match it in game.

You can get a damned good card for that (note that it's AGP):

the powercolor version has a better cooling system than the sapphire, but the sapphire is readily available.

yes, for me it works great using the Bf2 1024 x 768, with my desktop at 1280 x 1024, your desktop has to be the same or higher than the 1 in bf2.
