pressing escape in game brings you back to the main menu, however pressing it again does not take you back to the game instantly.

iv'e found that the only way that works is to click exit and press escape in the exit confirm menu. which is fairly annoying in combat if you accidentally hit escape, which i have done a few times.

Also the map isnt as fluid when opening as it should be. sometimes it takes a few m clicks for it to actually come up.

This might be your keyboard, I have no problems ingame like this.

The first is just ao BF2 works and the map not opening instantly is due an intended delay.

That's BF2 for you tbh. Press escape once will bring you to the menu, then have to wait a while before you can get back into the game. Nothing we can do about it, just the way BF2 works.

Never had to press "m" more than once to bring up the map. It does have a little delay, but I believe that's because we hide the minimap thingy in the top-right corner (for infantry). Other than that, you shouldn't have to press "m" more than once really. If that's the case on your end, there may be something wrong with your keyboard indeed?

That's intentional by the developers (from what I recall). There is a purposeful delay on the map showing up.

Want to show map quickly? Press caps lock.

Doesnt matter it still takes the same amount of time. It just looks faster cause the Squad Hud appears instantly on the left.
