because i was comander for one round and was surprised to still see the 3rd zoom level still, there i though you said you were going to take it away?
I realise that you took away the spotted feature but all i had to do was tell the squads that where i was putting demo signs there were enemies...
so essentially it can still be abused... and its a miracle on extraction since you can plot a route thats clear of enemies...

That's not abuse. It's how it's meant to be used. IRL, in a major battle you would likely have arial surveillance of some sort. And because you are giving the squads commands and they're reacting to them as a squad, it promotes teamplay.
The only time it's abused IMO is when you're in a 2 vs. 2 game or something and someone goes commander.

it's not possible to remove the zoom, but it was possible to remove the "spotted" menu item, which we did.

The radios can be destroyed and repaired, giving interesting tactical possibilities to "blind" the enemy. Other interesting feature is the FH2 commander can't use animore the vanilla uber zoom
that was my idea about destruable radios! the ********!
we got one advantage over WW2 and thats about 60 years of technology, ohh and laser guns

well.. er.. I dunno what they figured out, but I once thought I had it removed but then found that the mouse wheel still allowed zooming.
The radios is an interesting idea. We're working on some similar concepts for v0.6.
I've approached FH2 in the past about collaborating (more than once) and they were not open to it, so I won't be approaching them again.

I brought up the radio idea in my uber asset improvements post way back
Too bad that the FH2 guys are such pompous a-hats. Don't they know who eggman is!?

Why would they not collaberate? I wouldn't think of modding as a zero sum game, seeing as there's no monetary gain to be had. Or do you guys put your mods on your resumes when applying for programming (and such) jobs? In that case I can see how being a dev for the "best BF2 mod" or something like that would be beneficial.

One reason not to collaborate is the hassle. You make a good mod (or anything) and others starting up come to you to ask for help. This is not fun for you. Helping a well established mod with its own assets to share however seems quite logical.
I think there should be a open source modding website where scripts from games as well as models, both coded, downsized and fullsized are held for use by modders. This is because every game seems to make modders start from scratch with their models even though there was one previously made.
When FH2 comes out I suppose you can steal their no-zoom script.

if fh2 comes out in 2007
i'd bet 2009 it'll be avaiable
