I want to host a classic night and I have PR .5 files but no way to downgrade to BF2 1.4 from steam or origin. If anyone can help it be much appreciated.

Why? Doesn't v0.5 run on BF2 1.5?

I might have the 1.2 to 1.4 patch somewhere, if that helps? I can have a look once I'm home from work.

I dont think you can downgrade these versions.

Instead if you own BF2 disks you can install from that, and then just apply 1.4 patch. A solution if the above wont work. Most recent disk versions come patched to v1.3 so only v1.4 incremental patch is needed. Patching Steam or Origin version might not work since they work differently than disk versions, and afaik there is no way to downgrade it to v1.4.

I would suggest trying with 1.5 version first and if that wont work try 1.41 not 1.4

You can't you require a master server if you want to do it online. If LAN works no idea?

You can have you freinds join your IP or host a channel over tunngle or something like that. Note that this will require everyone to run tunngle and join the same channel.

Also note that if you are playing from the same PC where you host the game, it will be sluggish. More AI more lag for you.

It better to run dedicated server, but GL finiding PR server required files without applying for a license.

Pretty sure v0.5 didn't require a server license, we introduced that with v0.6

Yep, that's one of the reasons why it's my favorite PR version of all time(Jets on Basrah).
