A bug on spotter kit

I don't know exactly if this is an issue but , when I have spotter kit and I want to spot an enemy , I use radio and when I press Q and choose a type of enemy (inf, APC etc) it doesn't show mark on the map.Am I using this right.

you need to be SQL
and you need to set the distance first before spotting
are you doing this?
