Yes, I get it. It's another thread about bad FPS and we've all seen it. But I'm still being desperately hopeful that something can help me.

Specs below

CPU: AMD FX-8320E Octacore (8 cores) at 3.2GHz
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX MSI 750 Ti 2GB
RAM: 16GB 1300MHZ DDR3
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Alright so my FPS isn't horrid, it's not unplayable. It doesnt drop below 25 ever. But, PR being an FPS game... That's still pretty bad. Not so enjoyable and just has a bad feeling all in all.

I installed ProcessLasso, gave PR it's high priority, all CPU cores (even though it uses 1 core because of limitations, and this really is terrible), gave it high memory. I went to Nvidia Control Panel and put everything on MAX Performance in terms of Power.

All my settings are low except Textures which I have on High and resolution on 1080p.

I will NOT OC my CPU, I do have an aftermarket cooler but I refuse to put my hardware at risk at a time when I don't have money. And no I'm not gonna decrease my resolution because everything looks like I'm back in the 90s graphicwise

Unacceptable performance for my rig, compared to everything else I can run on 60 fps.

you can have a million cores, PR will only barely use 1. you state that your frames never drop below 25.. which I find to be amazing considering i have an i7 4770k and have seen it dip below that in some scenarios.


does this happen on all maps? certain gamemodes? have you tried clearing your cache recently? is your PC properly cleaned from dust? esp. the fans? unparked cores? defragged HDD?

furthermore you can make windows less excessive in terms of resources by optimizing some settings and window appearances

you could also refer to programs like game booster (or now known as razer gamebooster) and see if that can close up any unnecessary resources in the background

use gaming mode on lasso or assign prmumble to one core and prbf2 to another core, with prbf2 to higher priority ofc.

other than that.. there really isn't much for you to do unfortunately. this is how PR is

Yes, I know. This is the problem. Is there any way to make the game use more cores? This is terrible, it's like playing with a single core CPU. Dear God.. Why.

There is no map in the game where I will have 60 fps all the time. On maps with cities like Fallujah I get down to 33 fps average or so.. And on non-city maps its better but still not quite a 60.

No need for the gamebooster because my background processes are already absolutely minimal and using it doesn't help, I tried. I mean the problem is I see other people who record gameplay and they got 60 fps with no issues. Just weird.

60 fps on a map like kashan where they're at main, sure.

60 fps on fallujah, i'm going to stop you right there lol (unless they're at the corner of the map, starring away from the map, and looking into the sky, then sure)

no one here is playing at a constant 60 fps, i can promise you that. the average is probably around 40fps

bf2 is an old game, build for older architecture.. you have to realize that. PR as a mod is pushing that game to the max

i have constant 50-100 fps on fallujah while recording gameplay with an i5-2500k and gtx 680 (sure it drops to around 45 sometimes, but thats rare and i usually don't notice it.)

I am running @4.5ghz though.

Well of course, you are on 4.5ghz. I'd overclock my CPU too, I have a good aftermarket cooler. But I really don't want to at the same time because I risk screwing it up. Regardless, this game on 60fps all the time must feel lovely man

I get 60 in mains too or when I'm at corners of maps or where there is nothing going on. The problem is when *something* is actually starting to go on, then my FPS drops. Like going to a center of a city, you know.. Stuff like that. At the end here I want to ask you. Does increasing the AA (Anti Aliasing) increase FPS? I read that it does, I tried it and I didn't notice any FPS drop at all. Going from x0 to x8

You could try lowering your view distance when playing on hardware demanding maps. Some friends I play with do this regularly on fallujah.

Otherwise there isn't much you can do. Single thread performance is just shit on Bulldozer.

There's really not much else to do than get a processor with better single core performance.

My friend has an i5 running at 3.5Ghz and he's got the same issue. And he's got a 4gb card too, and even an SSD. The issue here really lies in the engine I Guess. Is it possible that the PR devs might add extra core support or not?

My gosh. The only way to do this... is to steal vBF2 engine source code from EA Games super secret underground nazi lunar base and then to modify and rebuild it. At least if we've got technology to do this. Even though if you're going to be able to pass through EA elite henchmen and to bring back the SOURCE, it is still possible that no one here will be able to "add extra core support" since it's a hell of a job and will take tons of hours of coding.

Theoretically, increasing AA draws more power. I would keep it at x2 or x4.

If you have an Nvidia, there is a tutorial thread around here somewhere that shows you how to use Nvidia inspector to have better AA settings for less performance. you could experiment with that

I literally have no FPS difference between x0 AA and x8 AA so I'm keeping it on 8. I even tested this for several rounds and yeah. Weird..

I got the same idea, but you realize I was just asking? I don't follow the developers too much, unfortunately. And since EA/DICE have pretty much abandoned Battlefield 2. I thought perhaps, they would be able to do such a thing. So I'm not sure what you want me to stop with?
