Gaming 'not yet' Redefined
Most of which is just my opinion...
I think I've been playing PR off and on for close to seven years. Though the last year I've not played much PR because of work, also rebuilding/maintenancing a 1995 ZJ I bought on the cheap that needs the steering rebuilt and new sensors for the transmission(most all work done by self). Plus, I recently picked up from a Craigslist local, an Intel i7-2600/Nvidia GTX570 PC, custom built in 2013. Bought it back in August around my birthday.
Anyways, the last three weeks have brought back the bad weather, making for less time I'd get on the mountain bike, and having to stay around the property and get it ready for winter. While also working on rebuilding the power steering gear and replacing all tie-rods ends and ball-joints(all easy stuff with proper tools and a strong friend, when you don't have to be at work); as well as replacing transmission(A518/46re) control modules.
---So I have this time to check out some of the more modern games on this newer to me PC. Didn't even consider reinstalling Modern Warfare 3. Insurgency looks great, but it's missing something? My copy of BF3 looks amazing compared to my old PC, but it's missing something? With my last PC, I would go back and forth between playing Arma2: Wasteland and PR. Played some wasteland recently and it too seem to be missing something? Then, after reinstalling and playing some BF:BC2 I realized what it was I was missing... Communication, teamwork, tactics!
I was thinking that I would reinstall PR and the graphics using this newer machine would get tiring... Nope!
Damn near every game is missing what PR has, and the only let down with PR is the graphics... Meh!
Basically, what I'm trying to say is; 'it feels good here, everything else in comparison seems to lack the critical aspects of teamwork gaming'!
I'm going to go download that PR "Graphic Enhancement Mod"* now and see if it works on this machine.
The day tactical gaming is redefined from the present aspects of PR MOFPS(massive online FPS), will be the day that MOFPS tactical gaming takes its next step forward. Will that be PR2, or some other title? Until such time, PR is the ultimate MOFPS tactical simulator that in my mind can not be beaten by current like genre titles!
See you on the battlefield...
Edited for clarity*

I don't get it?
Seems to me your complaining about the graphics of PR.
Gameplay > Graphics.

I think he was referring to the PR Graphic Enhancement mod. It mostly changes color filters of the game AFAIK, however I use it and I think it looks great. Would highly recommend.

[R-DEV]Ninja2dan: Not having a spotter is like masturbating with a cheese grater...mildly amusing at first, but generally painful and bloody in the end.
Thornehaw: If all this have been evidently true, Battlefield is a much scarier and dirtier than ever imagined. Not a conspiracy, but a possibility. If it is true, then trusting another is quite worrisome.

Re: Gaming 'not yet' Redefined
Completely agreed. PR has spoiled me completely. No other shooter gets even close to the PR experience. And honestly, I'm not bothered by the graphics at all. Human brains have always been great at creating virtual spaces from nothing, be it in our imagination while reading a book, transposing the flat image of a movie screen into a threedimensional world, or looking at pixels on an old CRT monitor. Good graphics can enhance this experience, but actual immersion requires something more. PR has that 'something.'

PR is still hands down the best shooter I have ever played. I know Squad is in the works but I still think it's going to be a long time before anything can even be compared to what PR has brought to the table. So much content. So many hours and hours of intense combat. Making new friends. Pulling off some of the most ridiculous shit. I just can't get enough!

Re: Gaming 'not yet' Redefined
I'm probably not alone on this forum when I say that I prefer the BF2 aesthetic more than the contemporary "uber realistic" aesthetic trend that has been going on since Bad Company 2 and CoD4. In 2003-2004 DICE had a clear vision of what they wanted their game to look and feel like when we the players played it. It is why they were able to create such a successful and iconic piece of FPS history that is Battlefield 2 and its successor mods.
These days developers and publishers just recycle their assets and aesthetics because they are on a yearly release schedule and they are just taking the most cost-effective route like any good company should. Even so, the most popular FPS games right now are TF2 and CS:GO and neither of them have a "uber realistic" aesthetic.
Graphics are a victim of the technology at the time and their purpose is to get you hooked. Aesthetics and solid gameplay mechanics are the things which make you keep coming back for more.
