PR Crash right after Launch

So, I've played PR constantly since I downloaded it a couple months ago and have had no problems up until this morning, no changes to computer whatsoever. After fiddling around with it a bit I switched to windowed and this was the error that popped up. I've scoured the forums looking for answers but every thread I come to doesn't have a definite answer so I figured might as well start fresh. I have the current versions of Direct X, reinstalled PR already and checked my computer for updates so I'm at a loss honestly. The bug is as follows.

To me this sounds like there's something wrong with the resolution/monitor. Have you tried deleting your profile? If you've done a lot of changes to controls I'd recommend you create a backup of it first.

"Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles"

EDIT: I missed the point where you mentioned you'd already reinstalled, I'm assuming that wiped the profiles and my help not being much help at all?

Thats correct, I also created new profiles, then reset those profiles to default when things didn't work and still nothing. As for resolution, my laptop cannot change resolution nor are any other resolutions available in the PR launcher menu.f

You can change the resolution in 'D:\Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles'. I'm not quite sure if you want to do it to 0001 or Default, might be worth a shot changing it on both.

Click 'Default' and open Video.con in notepad. Find the resolution and change it to something else to see if that works. If it's at 800x600 I recommend you set it to your laptop's native resolution. Same deal with 0001 if you've got a folder named that.

Yea I tried that as well, the default and main profile was set to 1920x1080 @64 so its right, and anytime a manual change is made it gives me the 1234 error: Resolution does not work with machine or something like that.

i suspect whatever it is that is causing your problem is the refresh rate. PR likes to run on 60 Hz. does your laptop come with a integrated gpu or just intel display? did you install anything new recently? do you have latest windows updates? intel (if applicable) should have an option to tune down your refresh rate to 60Hz and you should be able to change it in your profiles/0001/video.con file

Yea, I had seen you suggest that on some other peoples posts so I already tried changing it in the config file to no avail. Every time I make a change to anything in the config file that my computer doesn't like it gives me a blank drop down in my video settings on the launcher. The only setting available on my drop down is 1920x1080@64. I just checked my monitor settings and it's the same, I only get the option of a refresh rate of 64, plus I can't change my monitor resolution either, its fixed at 1920x1080. I have integrated gpu, its a nvidia 940m, however my Display Adapters are listed as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and NVIDIA GeForce 940M. Checked both and both are up to date, even went through the trouble of first disabling each, then uninstalling each respectively while trying to get it working with each to no avail. Besides not upgrading to Windows 10 as the download fails every attempt I have the latest version of 8.1. No new installations whatsoever. Also, to note, I've downloaded the dropbox file you uploaded to another users post with your config and that didn't work either.

EDIT: Another thing worth noting, I'm fairly positive not being able to change my laptop resolution is something that just occurred with PR not working, although I can't be sure since I never had to change my laptop resolution.

do you have your power settings set to high performance in power? have you tried playing with laptop plugged in?

if you right click anywhere on your screen (assuming you have updated and correct drivers), open nvidia control panel, then go to display>change resolution. are you given the option to drop refresh rate to 60hz from there? (or any other resolution at 60Hz?)

did you update any drivers from the time you played PR to now? perhaps you could try reverting drivers to see if that changes anything

Since my machine's default gpu is microsoft display adapter the only options I get 3D options and no other options. I haven't updated drivers as they haven't needed them, but I went through and updated them by reverting them anyway and still nothing. I'm thinking of going into my BIOS and setting my 940m to the default gpu.'

EDIT: So my BIOS actually doesn't have a setting for defaulting the 940 because nvidia automatically decides which gpu each process should use, so the problem isn't their either. I would think it has to do something with the fact that I can't change my resolution anymore, I'll keep looking and if anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

So this is pretty much an update for everyone who has a similar problem or has been trying to solve the issue for others. First let me go over the basics and recap. I have done as the following:
1. Disabled and Uninstalled both my integrated gpu and nvidia card drivers to see if they were the issue (keep in mind that I have a laptop)
2. Have Directx11 and tried to bump down to Directx 9 but pretty sure I've been using x11 the entire time
3. Made sure I have updated versions of literally every component involved
4. Made NVIDIA driver default gpu through its control panel, still to no avail
5. Obviously reinstalled PR (twice now, as well as to different locations)

I still have no solution but I have a fair understanding of where the problem lies. It seems to be a problem with my GPUs' communicating on which one is taking control of the process. Looking into my BIOS to try and make my NVIDIA the default it seems impossible because the BIOS has no options for chipset changes. As far as I can tell, something changed on the morning of the 6th causing this commotion because up until then everything had been fine. It seems to be a computer problem at this point, as I can't even change my screen resolution nor refresh rate for my computer, nor any other games I have and other games are crashing as well. The ones that do run are running very poorly, so I'd assume that I have a virus or something screwed up, I'll have to go get my computer checked out. Thanks for all the help everyone, hopefully I can get this figured out.
