Some 4 months ago, a fine PR player by the name of Guru951 came up with an idea to remake the famed 0.5 Project Reality trailer in the current version of PR. He has since retired from PR and to my knowledge no progress whatsoever on the remake has been made.

The trailer is indeed one of best PR trailers and my favourite. It is truly a masterpiece I think it would be a shame to let this project go unfinished so I decided to take it up, starting from scratch.

So, what kind of help do I need from the PR veterans? I want you guys to recognize the maps
in the trailer scenes. (some maps look different and some are not in the game anymore) I myself can recognize some of them but not all as I started playing in 2010 and it seems some stuff changed alot.

Also, I thought it might be fun for you guys as well to remember the old days For example, I know that scene from 2:05-2:11 is on ghost train.

Trailer itself isn't that spectacular - ugly even by today's standards. It's the music that makes it great .

Welp, that was fast C: . Maybe not visually the greatest but its inspiring. (it inspired me to take up the remake project, eh? ).

A DL for Greasy Mullet and a couple others. Many of the maps are pretty easy to get our hands on.

I still always thought that PR 0.5 was the best PR version, yes it was spammy compared to today's PR but Al basrah was so much fun, and I remember there were servers that would put on Al basrah 24/7.. would the DEVS consider putting back on PR 0.5 again?

Not the same as in v0.5 though.

I can see that a lot of those maps don't have the same kind of assets anymore, hell the Merlin isn't even in PR anymore (could probably be replaced with the Chinook). Would need someone to edit the maps that are still in the game to have correct number of vehicles and replace vehicles that no longer exist and things.

And then ofcourse there is the whole thing about only 3 out of all the maps still being in game, through the older ones could be dug up and edited to be used in the video, but yeah lots of map editing seems to be required before you can even start making a video.

I don't think the Merlin was removed from PR altogether, its still an ingame asset, there is just not maps atm that features it.

IMO Burning Sands should get 2 Merlins vs the two Hips on the MEC faction

Some vehicles like the TOW Humvee are pretty rare too. I think its only on Qwai right now

Some assets should be reevaluated not only for the sake of balance (which comes first), but also how common it is in PR.

Original idea was to remake the trailer using the stuff that is in game today. For maps that are still here to use those maps and for removed maps use some other maps. (While keeping the spirit of the trailer.) I'll try to honor that idea.

Shouldn't be too hard (Instead of Cobra the insurgent can shoot down a Lynx on alt basrah, mao valley scenes can be done on OGT etc.)

EDIT: I actually have a pretty fleshed out filming plan already made (only took me like 40 minutes to write that up).

0.5 trailer was and still is the best PR trailer, true PR celebration. Not only that it presented ton of stuff that was added (every single take shows a new weapon/feature/vehicle!), but all the scenes are pure work of art. Camera positions and angles were brilliant. And it's also very fluid, switching from one vehicle to another without loosing the focus.

I officially confirm that this trailer is one of the best and that 0.5 was the best PR there ever has been around.

to the DEVS.. is it possible to bring 0.5 back? and any servers wishing to play this can do so? I think 0.5 al basrah was fantastic fun.. two cobras, sa7s the hidden M95, the spawning on squad leader.. it was great
