Hello everyone,

Over the last few months, FCV has ceased to appear on the list and we are left with a few servers that are poorly managed and counters the idea of relaxed gaming.

So, I am looking for partners, be it clans, groups or clanless players to start a new server with only one thing in mind: fun, laid back gaming.

This idea comes from great frustration caused by excessive admins on other servers (won't name any, just to not get any problems), taking away all the fun and friendliness from PR, making it a tactical shooter with no casual interactions. For example, saying ''sup'' in all chat upon joining getting you a warning is simply stupid. As of now, I can think of a clan or 2 being admins on most popular servers, dictating what play styles will be accepted and which will not in an already small, dying community. This needs to change. This lack of friendly behavior will not attract any new blood and will only lead to the purge of the player base.

Hence, I want to host a server where casual interactions are not frowned upon, where you can tease a teammate, calling him a red tipped throb robbin, or any other well known movie quotes (ie ''The dictator'' movie references) and not getting warned for homophoby, where friendly chest beating is ok and not considered ''emotional abuse'' and overall just salty admins. As seen before in many servers over the years, it is possible to have great teamwork while being laid back, one not excluding the other.

Of course, the universal rules will apply, like no squads before 2:00, assigned squads, no base raping.



If you do not wish to contribute but support the foundation of a laid back, friendly server with teamwork in mind, just say so.

I think opening another server choice is a great idea. Just be aware that not everyone wants to play the game they way you want to. This is why those other servers exist and have active players.

What are you willing to provide to those that support your server financially? Do you have some crazy plan to run a server like FCV more successfully? How are you going to implement it continuously through the life of the server? Where are you going to get admins 24/7?

A lot of questions, but you are taking on a big responsibility, you can't just open up a server and expect it to work.

I only need 4-5 persons that will be splitting the bill with me, that the community knows to be fair and will have B rights (and OFC paypal and servers costs will be public). The others admins will be hand picked and voted for by the community. Kick roles only, no TB fiestas for everyone (kick, warns, change maps).

Apparently you think it's okay to say "faggot" in all chat and attribute it to a movie quote? Yeah right, there are logs to prove you wrong here. We've had multiple reports of racism and homophobia from you, it's not the first time.

The "sup" incident was simply because we had an issue with a ton of people spamming all chat around that time and then you got lumped in with them. It was only a warn and it's not like you were close to being kicked or temp banned.

Anyways, I wish you luck with this endeavor. I think you'll find running a server/PR community isn't quite as easy as you think it will be.

I am studying archaeology. Archaeology is anthropology. Anthropology is about studying cultures. So this is what I do. I study cultures with a particular interest in south america. You know, brown people. Must be awkward if I was indeed a racist. I'll tell you a little something about cultures. In some cultures ejaculating on a kid's face as part of a ritual to mark the beginning of their adult life is something totally normal, while here it will be considered child abuse. Same thing for homophobia, in some cultures they use little boys as brides and they grow up with a ''female'' tag. Were they all gay? Nope, it was part of their culture. Just read ''the argonauts of the western pacific'' from Malinowski or Boaz and you'll learn about all kind or things considered ''wierd shit'' to us. And ffs stop using the term racism alright? There's no such thing as different races, we're all humans. So I find both these terms, homophoby and racism, pointless as it's all about culture. I mean if you are gonna come on the forums and trash a server, I'm gonna defend it. It really doesn't matter what you study, I could study theology and still be an atheist. Racism does exist, don't start these pseudo-intellectual arguments pretending it isn't a real thing.

The context in which you used the word "faggot" was clearly derogatory, there's a million other word you could have chosen but you chose that one.

Who's salty? You're the one that was so offended by our admins' actions that you were driven to make a post here.

First of all, I didn't NAME the actual server or any of the admins, so no, you don't have to defend it, since the name has not been spoken. You just wanted to start a shit storm and sabotage my attemp at making a new server (competition?).

Am I going to stop and think who might be offended when I say something? Did I just hear you call me salty? I didn't go to the feedback thread and complain, I simply left and went looking for players to start a new server. I find it a pretty calm way to deal with it. In fact, nothing could have been better.

Ok, so back on topic, Aladeen, if you are really eager to get a server up an running you are correct in that all you need is someone to pay the hosting costs and some admins. I'm sure there are a subset of PR players that would be interested in a more laissez faire approach, but obviously you'd need a few admins to at a minimum set maps, sort balance and deal with hackers and griefers.

This is why most servers are associated with a clan or community. You might consider approaching such a group and asking them to share one of their boxes. I'm not sure who would, but it's something to consider.

In terms of setting up your own PR server, there is a bit of black magic involved in getting a server to run smoothly (i.e. not crashing all the time). Ghosts in the machine mean that you'd need a patient and knowledgeable volunteer to run the whole setup, perform update etc.

Another thing to consider is seeding. Unless you have guys starting to fill you server in the evening, players might just go elsewhere.

The PR community is a pretty tolerant bunch, so there is room for all kinds at the table and more NA servers would probably be welcome.

Thank you Mikey, these are valuable tips. I think crashes are something you can't do without in PR, with a mod that massive, it's just expected to crash from time to time.

When it comes to seeding, I know it is the hardest part, but I don't think you need that many players. 20 would be enough to be noticed and to players to actually try a different play style.

My only concern with sharing with a clan or community is, from experience, their will to choose which admins are going to have admins rights and we had to deal with disagreements all the time. It is better for everyone if the community votes for who has admins rights. We all know each other in game, and we have a pretty good idea on who we want to admin us.

democracy doesnt work, iron fist the server admin/control or it will just turn into just another pr server that no-one plays on

I'd tend to agree with you on this one, but I do not know every person on PR, and maybe,just maybe, some very decent people are just under the radar, but would make great additions, you know?

At the end of the day, voting will ensure we have people the community supports and are ok being watched over by, making policing it less of a *****. Or so I think...

i have personally been an admin on 4 PR servers, 2 were successful for several years. i can assure you that you are chasing a dream. you will HAVE to hand out kick, TB and Ban powers to as many admins as you can or your server is just going to be a hundred times worse then the ones you are running from. you complain about being warned for talking in all chat, but you have never been the one responsible for running a good server and realizing that there is so much chat spam going on that you cant see the top left half of your screen, or that someone typed to the tank crew that there was a HAT waiting for them around the corner. it is easy to throw stones and say "our server will be better." but the reality is that unless you lay down the law hard and fast with the ban hammer, your server is going to be a mad house of team killers and hackers and people sitting in base and using allchat as a chat room and not doing anything to support the rest of the team that is actually trying to play the game.

you can go chance you dream of a democratic server, but i hope you like playing Kashan large 24/7 (or some other CAS heavy map).

I have been an admin since BFV and for many different servers mate, I know how things work


People are getting kinda sick of Kashan but I get your point and diversity might be an issue but we only have to propose different mods and maps I guess...
