So say you apply for commander, you get commander, your uniform changes to suit your position.
Same with squad leaders and any other unique position that might arrise.

nothing crazy like i dont mean the commander gets a suit or anything. but just enough for him to stand apart from the rest in the same class.

Mabe even a fresh set of weapons to choose from ;) for each unique position.

The most noticable (at least close-up) combat uniform distinctions a squad leader or platoon leader/commander would have these days are rank insignia, which are subdued (nonreflective black plastic) so as not to stand out, and maybe a sidearm. What visually distinguishes a unit leader on the battlefield is his behavior, such as hand-and arm command signals. Being next to an RTO is also usually a sign.

hmm, and we wouldn´t want that would we....

would be awesome though, as a sniper, you see a squad advancing, pick out the leader, and boom.

The commander could wear a chicken suit, then he really has to hide.

what you should do is paint a big target on the commanders back :P He would never know as you cant see you back and everyone could laugh at him

or a big paper sheet saying ´shoot me´

Or put him in a box that can be destroyed with C4! One more target for the special ops.

so only one serious reply then.
like i said nothing obvious. ranks are distinguished differently in war so dont think your clever by talking ****.
i know you dont put big stickers showing ranks on helmets or on there back or have them covered in feathers. Then your a target.

however i also know certain things are different and for an example you wont find a commander on a battlefield anyway.

even if your sidearms altered or you got one extra thing like binos etc.

You got no more serious replies because they were not needed, Eddie replied with a full answer.
well i wanted opinions from others also. in future i think if no one has anythink positive to say with the subject then they should not reply.

IMO, classes and kits should be handed out the way they are in AA, with one kit slot allowing one person in at a time. Then we just have a commaner class, probably some kind of officer with a handgun and thats it.

To the uniforms thread

Airman: Overalls, helmet and flight vest, sidearm: I think there should be an airman class dressed appropriately as with all armies. Would be cool if your shot down, you got only a pistol maybe a flare? Sending up a flare if downed then ground forces could rescue you, or a Helo might pick you up. How more realistic is that?

One of the things I've been thinking is, give a class a unique tool, they will use it.

Flares don't read that well in daylight, which is all there is. Plus, noone would give a **** if a pilot went down. He's worth nothing on the ground, and can easily suicide to get back to base. (I know this is harsh, but it's just how it is ingame) The pilot skin already exists in planes and choppers, being different only in that the chopper pilot dosn't need an air mask as a part of the helmet. It SHOULD be easy to take the models out of the machines, but I still say as a pickup kit in the hangars rather than a class. It would be waste space to replace a needed class with the pilot, and there's only so many flying vehicles anyway, so it would make sense if there was only the same amount of flight kits available (+1 possibly)

Also, anyone else think the textures on the pilots helmets are pretty ugly? for some reason, that's the only player model texture which seems pixelated.

i have to agree with solo here. and if you can only reply for serious answers then what will happen to all the good fun we're having here?

anyway if you want a serious reply i don't think it'd be necessary to have it in. i mean, as you said it's hard to see the difference in war time. especially as a sniper looking through his scope from a mile. the main 'hint' as to who is the squad leader is seeing him giving orders, or behaving differently. so basically changed uniforms would be a waste of time imo.

theres lots of texture errors. artly to do with the way its mapped.

look on th eback of the head on the soldiers. Notice a seam down the middle where it hasent been coloured right. one of the more obviois ones.

Actually flares work well in daylight...and this is how.

Balance realism with game play.

Pilot sends up flare, he is respawned back at base. No suicides.

Details like that if they could be coded, would be awesome and adds to the realism. There could even be a Helo that picks him up or something animation and he gets yanked out of the water.

Boom back to base, avoid suicide.

Thoughts?

The helo thing is impossible. You can't code anything to work without human involvement, ect, NO bots. Way too much for the engine to handle.

And the flare doing insta-transport isn't very realistic. Come to think of it, suicide isn't either. The pilot will just havw to walk back like everyone else, unless he gets a lift. Pure and simple. If not, let him hook up with a squad. He'll find a jeep eventually. And if he dies, his kit would respawn and someone else would grab it, so it's in his own best interet to stay alive.

Ok, what is more realistic then PeraMeds, Eva Teams or Search and Rescue Teams in a helo? Just a helo made for such a thing. Sometimes grunts push mops, sometimes they carry guns.

I hate to stress, in another mod or game. In BlitzgKreig, you can just drive a truck, people need trucks to tow arty, move troops, not so glamorous but necessary.

Realism is doing your partâ$¦not everyone is a rifleman or spec ops.

Some rather large maps can be made, just like in other mods that will allow for evade and capture.

A good Pilot is an asset, I know, they kill me with drag bombs every 30 seconds.
