Hello,

I used to play Battlefield 2 when i was a kid and now i picked up PR.
I played for about 4 days now, mostly as a medic, and i have some questions.

1. What does the medic use "resuscitate" for?

2. Whats the range for capping a flag and how do i know if i am capping or not? Should i look if im getting points or not? Also, does the squad leader see if im not? They usually seem to know more.

3. The Trans/Armor/CAS squads are created then 3-5 playes join in and they are locked in. They also seem to be represented by what i think there are veteran/experienced players within a clan most of the times which kinda denies new players but i still have to admit they are doing good work mostly. Altough im not that eager to join one of those squads, should I join if im relatively new and unexperienced with what they require?

4. Why are those cars called "techies" ?

5. Bullet drop doesn't appear to be a thing, right?

6. I also play CSGO, where there are things like AK one taps, but M4 does less. So how do weapons work in this game? Yesterday a squad member was talking about how he likes AK but someone else said "i guess its just preference". Do all the weapons do the same damage or one deals less and the other deals more or have other distinct traits?

7. Do the K/D update only after you die or after some time aswell?

Hey, welcome aboard

1) Resuscitate is used to push out bodies if they are glitched in walls/trees/uneven surfaces and cannot be revived. You can also drop field dressing on a body to move it.

2) Radius for capping a flag is visible next to a flag name when you open a map screen (default 'M' or Capslock). If you open map screen while in a flag range, the capping progress will be visible in a top right corner.

3) Use local/coop server to get the basic experience with vehicles before you attemp to use them on a fully populated server.

5) I believe there is a bullet drop, but on the ranges where most of fighting occures in game, it's near zero.

6) Damage to players is based on ammunition used, body armor and body part.

7) You get kills after your enemies respawn. You get deaths when you get the black "dead-dead" screen.

The weapons do varying amounts of damage, and that damage depends on what you hit and if they are wearing body armor or not. Any weapon will drop someone unarmored to the head, and the larger caliber weapons (like the G3) will to my recollection drop someone who's unarmored to the body as well. Smaller caliber ones will just seriously wound you if you're hit anywhere other than the body, once.

Kills show up after, like was said, your enemies finally respawn - which could take 5+ minutes. This is to prevent you from knowing you've gotten an enemy for sure when you ordinarily wouldn't know you've gotten him - throwing frags over a wall, for example.

1. Sometimes bodies gets flung too far away from their "kit" which makes them un-ressable or they get glitched somehow. Resuscitate is used to fix that but in my experience it's better drop a field dressing on the body, which also heals the player when you EpiPen them.

2. The cap range scales with the size of the map, iirc the numbers are 75m for 1km? maps and 150m for <2km? maps. The squad leader can't see, but there needs to be two people inside cap range for the flag to be capped. Pressing the map key (M) or kit key (Tab) and looking in the top right will let you see if you're capturing or not by watching the little blue slider move. If it doesn't that means that there are enemies contesting the capture.

3. The vehicle squads are crucial for the success of the team and to operate the vehicles require extensive knowledge and practice. Each vehicles is effective against some things and vulnerable to others which takes months to learn and years to master. If you want to join those squads then i suggest picking infantry classes that is meant to combat them, such as Light anti tank and Manpad (Anti air) so that you learn what you're weak against and names of the vehicles, btr's, bmps etc.. Playing on practice servers untill you're comfortable with vehicle is good too. When you think you're ready join an APC squad on an insurgency map or an aas map with light armor and request a gunner position, it's relatively easy and won't affect the team too much if you screw up once or twice.

I do recommend though that you try to get into armor squads, knowing that you're the baddest son-of-a ***** on the battlefield is fun. ^^

4. Military slang for a civilian vehicle augmented into a military one, the better question is why the suicide truck is called "Gary".

5.Bullet drops exists but it doesn't matter unless your engaging targets above ~500m.

6. The PR wiki (ProjectReality Wiki - Wikia) has damage numbers for some guns, and the hitbox numbers are roughly:

body armor: 1
Body (without armor): 1.7
Arms & Legs: 1.1
Head: 8

Damage numbers are abit strange since the battlefield engine can only handle fire rates that are preset at like 300, 500, 700, 900 or something (probably not those exact numbers but you get the idea). The G3 has a fire rate of only 500 but has 50 damage per bullet to compensate. Usually the damage of a gun is around 35-50 based the fire rate. Snipers are usually one shot one kill. I go for the guns with the best scopes and handling, which if why i hate the Russians with a passion. (C'mon 1.4)

7. It's delayed slight after a player gives up (when they can no longer be revived).

A tip, when you press tab, you can move the cursor to click on the "logistic" tab above the map, there you can see what vehicles are on the map, so if you see a vehicle but you're not sure what it's called, check there. Calling it out goes something like "(Vehicle name) 300 meters north west, moving towards us."

this "cas" squad rushes are the best example of todays job market .
they let you join only if you have experience . but how can you get experience if no one want you to join them .

I guess I can give you a few medic tips:

Resuscitating, throwing a patch or a smoke grenade on a body does the exact same thing, there's no difference. If a player has slid down a hill after being killed his kit might sometimes be far away from his body. Move to the top of the hill looking down at the player, and move down towards him/the kit while resuscitating. His body should teleport back up and be ready for a revive.

If you're unsure if a guy is reviveable or not you can resuscitate his body to find out. If he keeps moving after a couple of seconds he is reviveable, if his body freezes he's dead-dead.

Always make sure you contact the guy you're getting up and tell him where to go. Avoid staying in the same spot as he died. When moving to the location you have told him to go you should keep your rifle out, not the medic bag. Your patient has time before he'll bleed out, and you never know if there's gonna be an enemy around the corner.

Take your time, despite the constant spam of impatient kids shouting for a medic seconds after they've been annihilated by an APC. When a player goes down there's he will have 5 minutes to be revived before bleeding out, so there's no reason to rush things. They should also stay safe for another 2 minutes after revive to get their mojo back, although there's little you as the medic can do about that.

When reviving ask the wounded person to keep talking, usually if the body is on flat ground just stab around the crotch area. If the body has slid away from the kit you can ask the person to talk and stab directly where the voice is coming from.
