I would just want to know if when it's winter, and christmass time, the servers have event that during winter only winter maps are played, or atleast more often... the devs could atleast make a winter update, with lots of new maps and new mechanics into winter, like freezing (:

They can't even get 1.4 out, what makes you think they're capable of putting together a winter update before Christmas?

Servers usually run a winter map pack around Christmas time but really the standard map rotation depends on the players' wishes on most servers.

I demand a christmas pack with barbecues, beaches and nice 30 degree weather.

This was not my point.

My point was that they're such a small team now that it takes them a much longer time to produce stuff, and it's silly to expect them to create a new winter map pack.

It isn't silly. If we want to make a winter map pack we would simply make one. When it was april fools one of our mappers made a map in I think less then a week. With the mapping team combined we could pump out 10 winter maps of the quality of the old winter map packs if we wanted to. Those were some extremely shitty maps.

The question is more if we would want to, and the question to that is largely no

Devs, I'm expecting a very nice winter mappack this year. Don't let me down or I'll tell me mum.

Hey devs, why not include Northern Lights and Operation Snowstorm in the core mod?

As I explained, they are not good maps. Operation snowstorm later on became artic lion btw

Wow, but the last thing I saw about artic lion was that some guy tried to usurp the Dutch forces on the map with the freaking Germans, thus stealing another glorious Dutch forces map. (Large layout had German assets and alt had Germans, whilst the Dutch layouts had freaking snowstorms)

Just because dutch forces are on the map does not mean the map is automatically good.

Yeah sure the map isn't magically good because of a certain faction, but it doesn't help that every map the faction had got removed or is being reworked (artic llion) or is being used by another faction (hades peak)/has to share with another faction (dovre for example).

Whilst some of those maps were still highly enjoyable with the Dutch faction (through the airfield bug needed fixing badly for balance)

Hades peak was designed with british in mind. We tried with dutch forces but they are missing some assets so we went back to british . Artic lion was not ready at release and in afterthought it just wasn't good enough to be in public hands yet so it was removed.

We tried, we failed. We move on fingers crossed for more Dutch forces maps.

Let's hope so, through the biggest thing still missing is the Medium/Heavy apc that is the CV90 so it can tango with Russian apc stuff instead of relying on .50 cal and numerical superiority. Also the truck that was being worked on and the rifle heide is working on.

Also as the Dutch army doesn't use the YPR (the M113 thing is used by the "military police" kind of thing) maybe it could better be removed from the mod.

The size of the client is so huge that 10 maps isn't killing anybody. We've reached a point where people are actually running Ghost Train, a holdover designed to appease vets. The very existence of this 0.5 era relic proves that people were willing to play "shit" (I put this in quotation because they're not) maps for nostalgia, not to mention how many maps were cut out during the jump to 0.9. Yet, we saw unquestionably superior maps like Ochamchira (that received a tiny fraction of the backlash that Kashan did over its lifetime) and Arctic meet their end.


Sure, maps like Ochamchira or even worse, Barentz were not perfect in a any sense of the word, it's better than playing the same fancy AAS V4 map over and over again. Once the noob flow dries up, we'll see more signs of this.

Also, was Northern Lights also based off OSS?
