Dedicated server for LAN: where can I find it?

Hello everybody,

We are about 20 people (ages between 20 and 40) and we make several times a year LAN (as before full retro). :)
Until the end we played BF2: AIX. We have become aware of PR. But now to my question or understanding problems.

We have our own server on site, no connection to the Internet. We have the Dedicated BF2 Server running and control it with BF2CC. Now I find in PR no dedicated server. When I start ingame multiplayer, I miss a lot of options. In the game, the Dedicated Server is recommended. Next I can only CoOP with Bots make. Why no other game modes?

If I start the dedicated server of BF2, I can not select PR as a mod.

I did not find much information. There is the dedicated server, but I do not know how to start it. Or do I need to buy the server license, even if I only play in the LAN? I also read that you can administer PR with the BF2CC ...

Thanks for a few info.

Best regards
piet

You can make a local server in deployment with normal PR gamemodes without bots, also you need a server liscence (thing that gives you the right to host a PR server) to get a dedicated server up and running.

Also 20 is usually a bit too low for a good game of pr to be honest, I would recommend all joining the same server that is like half populated (through it's nigh impossible for you to stack all your friends to one side)

Thanks for your answer. How often play very large maps with 20 people. This also has its appeal and prefers tactical action.

We do not play online. We all meet in two big rooms. We can not play on any Internet server.

Too bad that we have to buy a license, I thought LAN games would be possible without license.

You dont need server licence for LAN games, it's just we're not providing server files(binaries etc) for lan games.
You can set-up vbf2 dedi and port client files to it through.

Also the liscence is not a thing you buy, you apply for it and depending on if the dev team thinks you can run a server properly you get it.
