Mines not visible on lower settings

So, after 1.4 hit and the mines changed, I've lost more armored vehicles to mines than I did in my two and a half years of playing PR.

Now, that's a good thing since the change was obviously intended to limit the recklessness of the drivers. And I'm all for it. But there's a slight problem with it. I haven't physically seen any of the mines I hit. It's not that I'm reckless, blind and/or stupid. They just were not there.

Last example happened on Muttrah, when I decided to actually take screens of the mines to see if I really have the issue or not.

Here are some screenshots:

First mine. Settings are set to high.

Second mine. Settings are set to high.

Now, you see there is nothing wrong with the mines, right?
Well here are my screenshots:

First mine. Settings are set to low.

Second mine. Settings are set to low.

Honorable mention to quto, my new kebab friend, for providing the screenshots of the same mines on high settings. :)

Yeah, there's the problem. There could be other logical explanations, but I think it still deserves to be posted here in the bugs thread.

EDIT: Here's an imgur album link inf anyone cannot see the screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/a4tHi

Anyway, hopefully this will get looked at.

Cheers,

I'm guessing he placed the mines while you were already on the server? As joining a server you will not see mines that have been placed previously.

Could be one of the issues, yes.
But there had been instances of the same thing happening when I was on the server from the very beginning.
I don't know what else could be causing the issue.

Does this always happen?
Do you see the mine when you place it while in a local game?

I see mines that I have placed. But if a friendly or an enemy has placed it I may or may not see it.
One example I had was on Beirut. I was on it from the start of the game and I drove a logi over the mines, that were marked, but I simply didn't see any.

I will do more tests when I can and update you with the results.

Is this a joke? How can you play with 640/480

Tell me about your experience hah.

I think that it is like one-time-bug. Because I had this problem for one time and after that everything was ok

Everyone with low core Hz will enjoy the 15 fps that will ensue. Maybe instead work on optimization and maps so people don't have to lower graphics.

Sorry i forgot that you dont take any jokes :p

On a serious note, there's plenty of stuff being optimized(objects lods, lms etc) by a small quantities around patches, as it's simply impossible to take and work on ~9000 objects all at once.
Partially that's why i'm working on python mesh parser, so could lately just bulk-update lots of objects without doing much useless manual work.

As for thread itself, we've yet to see how we can replicate it, otherwise it's another bf2 network issue.
