FOB deployment could be touched up.

Current life as SL:
The logic behind this is that the only people who can deploy FOBs are SLs.
So what does this mean?
- SLs are forced to handle construction meaning his squad gets tied up building a FOB when they could be active on an objective.
- If the squad members are not helping the SL build the FOB, they have no oversight from the SL, as the SL is busy building a FOB.
- If the SL hopes to build more than one FOB, then the SL is forced to abandon his squad to build, RTB, move to the new location, build, and maybe RTB the truck before he can rejoin his squad members.
- If the SL requests that another player runs logistic truck for him, then two players are tied up to construction, the SL and the truck driver -- not to mention that the SL might need a ride to the next FOB location. Meanwhile, his squad is unsupervised.
- On a team where no other squads are interested in putting up FOBs for the team's benefit, this becomes a bore and a chore for SLs. Necessary, but boring.
So what are your opinions and IBM solutions to this?

inb4 suggestion out of suggestion forum
Maybe "requesting FOB" command that the squad leader drops with radio T-menu and after that every member in that squad can place a fob.
Like back in days there was "requesting mortar firemission" thing (which isn't missed)
That way Squad Lead can be doing task X while their squad members can build fobs at Squad Leader request.

TL-DR OP feels that:
- if a SL is not within 1 meter of the squad then hell breaks lose and its an insta free kit squad.
- its impossible to coordinate with trans, apc or simply bring a transport truck
- a squad consuming 10s of their time to shovel a fob is too much
10/10 would call spiderman

Not all servers enjoy the high quality teamwork and play of the european timezone, where everyone is a veteran or has played the game for 5+ years.
Further, giving this game longevity aswell as an easier and less stressfull feature for the most important ingame role, (the squadleader) is a very good point and should not be winded away by simple memes or edgy comments.
I have issues everyday with my server having to deal with free-kit squads, micless squadleaders etc. I bet if the job of the SL was easier there would be more of them, since less of them would give up.

SL have to build fobs all day or 1. no-one will do it; 2. noobs will do it wrong; 3. trucking is life.
While I don't mind doing it, it does get a bit old. Looking for solution that goes beyond yelling at noobs.

What's with people suggesting things to making everything funner and/or easier for all the players? Where's the challenge in that? Same with the suggestion about having the Commander running around the battlefield instead of staying at base coordinating the team.
Why not just have a Coop system everywhere, where you can build FOBs instantly?
The game is fine as it is (within the engine limitation), it's just that many people that ruin it.

Why change something that's been fine for ages?
And why are mods allowing suggestions out of suggestion section? It's not professional

This is a discussion. No suggestions have been made.
Yet again, I spent an evening building FOBs, but maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy.

I either build a superfob and defend it, or don't build at all. Solved.

If people used the numpad like they could instead of binding allSLchat to an easy button and just spamming it that would help very much.No more hearing "hey sq2 can you come and help us in 3 to your west?" "sure sq3" ect ect when you are sq6 5 grids away.
Hitting buttons on your numpad is not hard, I know most of you have it.
On the SL having to build, there is a reason why the tournament teams try to dedicate squads to it, or in public a guy running with commander and a truck building them. But unfortunately, sometimes inf have to do it even if its not the most practical solution.
The rest of the sq can be left at the flag to defend or attack while the SL+1 builds though, it's possible.

I've started local muting people who use squad leader chat too much when talking directly to squads. Really helps concentrate.

Good Evening,
While I understand the SL mumble spam I find that a game is more in depth with more SL chatter than with none at all. If there is no SL chatter, you have tons of free kit squads or squads that are on the other side of the map nowhere close to an objective of any kind.
Back to the FOB deployment, I would love to see two options when deploying a FOB much like the Foxhole/Sandbag one. One open would deploy the sand mound fob like we are used to seeing and the other would be the little house FOB like in the WW2 mod. It would allow more blending with the surroundings to hide them better from the UAV.

yuk, no, SL should learn how to SL. Sending chat to one SL on all channels shows inabilities. Just learn how to do it right, simple.

Its also a good idea to start direct squad chat with something like "squad x this is squad y " .

I always do this and I think its really useful.
Second the most important thing for me is to use NATO phonetic alphabet.
Generally, as I can see there is much less co-operation between SL lately. Its really sad.

It's most likely that the quality of SLs has gone down as PR seems to have had a consistent influx of new players. This means that they will either only build a FOB and play on it the entire match - which doesn't help, or they don't know where to build them, and lose them quickly (hideouts directly on objectives, etc.).
Since I don't really appreciate dragging my squad around just to build FOBs, I will send them to an objective so our team can still be efficient. For this reason would I prefer to ask a squad member to put up a fob somewhere for me so I would be allowed to actually oversee the squad at an objective.
Furthermore, having a squad just for building FOBs is a waste, as only one of them would be able to deploy the assets anyways.
These have been my observations over the last years of playing.

Should not be a squad of engineers, who should be responsible for the constructions requested by the Commander? Build FOB's and etc?
Anyway, something to observe in Project Reality is: combatant soldiers working as Engineering / Logistics soldiers. Not to mention the squad leaders doing the Commander's work, and the Commander serving only to release Artillery and use the UAV.
I believe that the multifunction concept that prevails in Project Reality these days, creates individualism among players, and kill teamwork on servers in general.
I liked when the commander was responsible for authorizing the construction of FOB's.
