SPG-9 sight is very inaccurate

A while ago i practised with the SPG-9 on test bootcamp and noticed severe accuracy issues. And i am not talking about intended randomized deviation. I double checked the ranges with the map and laser rangefinder so there is no doubt about it.

Noticeable inaccuracy starts approximately after the 300m chevron. Basically the projectile doesn't drop as much as the reticle indicates, or in other words the respective distance markers on the reticle are not placed high enough or close enough together to be correct.

At first it is barely noticable but the longer the distance to target the more pronounced it gets. Around 1000m distance it is so great that you pretty much have to aim with the 900m chevron to get a hit.

But the two stadiametric rangefinders work fine as far as i can tell.

which type of shell you fired and was inaccurate over and over again ?

cause PG-9 HEAT-FS(fin stabilized) Shell Weight 4.39 kg.

while the OG-9 FRAG-HE is 5.35 kg.

maybe this is why the drop was inaccurate ?!

solidfire has a good point, it might be the different weights/designs being unaccounted for which would actually be a really cool mechanic. however if this isn't the case it'd explain what so many spg crews on maps like op. archer have issues missing targets they should've been hitting

It happened when using both shell types and as far as i can tell they have the same ballistic properties ingame.
Try it yourself on test bootcamp, at longer ranges (300m<) you will start noticing it. At 800m you have to aim a little bit below the 700m marker on the reticle if you want to hit something. At 1000m you have to use the 900m marker or even above it to aim if you want to be accurate.

The inaccuracy probably starts right away but as it gets amplified with range you most likely just notice it after 300m.

HEAT and FRAG have same characteristics on SPG-9, only on BMP-1 they differ. Don't read too much into simple things people. The sight is off and you just need to always aim down a bit with it.

So... is anyone actually going to do something about this? I mean thanks for putting in the work and making the SPG reticle in the first place. But if you decided to make it you kind of have a responsibility to make sure that it actually works as intended.

It is just as inaccurate as before.

I think the reticle is still a little bit inaccurate, the projectile drops a bit more than the sight indicates.
But in your video it is quite obvious that at long ranges the HEAT round is landing way more where it is supposed to land according to the sight now than it did before.

Do you mean you only changed the magnification and projectile speeds but left the reticle as it was and it just happened to become more accurate because of that?

And what about the FOV? Is it 10 degrees like the real thing?

SPG 9 emplacement still has the old magnification.

Can the SPG 9 get more ammo maybe since its effectiveness has been reduced a lot by having big drop for frag rounds and less magnification?
