Jumping in need help

Ok, so I've totally given up on map-making, not my style...ready to jump in the vehicle modding arena.

I would like to start modelling the wonderful V-22 Osprey. From what i've deducted, I should be able to model it using the physics of the F-35 we already have maybe with a little editing. So really all it needs is re-skinning.

So here's where I need help, I have searched all over but need a little direction, how in the world do you mod vehicles? What programs do you guys use and if someone could, please walk me through the process.

I really want to get involved and help out as much as I can with this mod, but right now I just don't know how to do it.

You need 3DSMax, GMax, or Maya to model a vehicle's mesh and skin it. Then you need Photoshop to create textures. After that, you code it in BF2Editor.

It's much harder than map making and much more expensive too unless you get the software with less conventional methods. You also need a lot of disk space, and modelling is a hard thing to learn.

Well If your a first time modeler:
1. Find any 3D modeling/animation program.
2. Read/watch tutorials, read books
3. Make something less extensive.

Modeling is a bit more harder then it sounds like. You can't just pick up a program for the firs time and say "hey I'm gonna model this and that" It's like flying a jet before you can walk. I had to go through a lot of trainings, tutorials, and books to get where Iam today (and im still learning a lot).
Hope this helps.

I've just started modelling in Gmax a couple of days ago too. Trust me, it's hard and time consuming, but great fun once you get the hang of it. I'm only just starting to learn to use the different tools. My tip: download Gmax - it's free - and start by making something simple and read lots of tutorials.

And I myself would definately prefer the CH-53 rather than the V-22. :)

I dowloaded Gmax as well, yesterday...
Couldn't understand much. I have maya here too, but couldn't find any stupid idiot manual, for ppl like me that have never modeled anything lol.
