What not Insurgents?

I am sure this came up before, but where is the willing able and crazy insurgents in this game? A unified Arab army, surly you jest? Asians are more then likly to become the PAE(Pan Asian Empire)

Then you have your suicide bombers! Even a kid model, with an AK, that screams Durka Durka or something.

Very nice picture, but this has been suggested in several still-ongoing threads, look it up. They should have red markers indicating new posts.

And about kids ingame: NO. There is a limit to everything, and that's where it is, right there. You just don't do that in games, just as shooting kids in real life is the worst thing that can possibly happen.

Soldiers who accidently shoot armed kids, even in self defence, often needs extensive psycologial help afterwards. Talk to any soldier who has shot a young child, and you'll hear him say how that was the biggest mistake he ever made.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that the LAST thing we want is for PR to be known as "That mod where you get to shoot kids!"

You could never make an army out of these people.
They do not fight in force they cowardly hide and would never dare stand up to any real army in a battlefield.

I agree with what both of you guys said, NO shooting kids, that is awful, I'm sure we have all seen pictures on the news of 10 year old kids yielding AK-47s, and yes, it could be realistic, but in a game, it's awful to even attempt to add kids in... Not to mention, it would probably give PR a really bad rep by many. Keep in mind, these kids have probably been raised to hate americans, etc. They really cant think for themselves because of the way they were raised, and they dont deserve what they go through...

As for Insurgents, I'd say no, I'd like to see BF2/PR remain a game where trained militants wage war against each other, not where teenagers go out, buy an AK or kill someone for one, and go fire on Americans, then go crawl in a hole, and wait to have a chance to fire again.

there is no place for terrorists in PR or BF2

you mean like a secret special weapon of the insurgents?

once you hit 40mph you go stealth mode and laser nukes go armed. :twisted:

There is a great place for Insurgent style armies in PR:

Objective maps. Protect this person or thing and get it to here, and you've got to travel through the terrorist infested city to get there. This style of map would be most realistic to real world events and would offer fun gameplay, as the insurgents would have the bonus of being hidden in the city, with good hiding places, and if the city was well designed it could take a long time to get through it, especially without a map.

think the humvee column in black hawk down. they got shot up pretty freakin bad. maybe just make it so that the ratio of players is something like 3 insurgents to 2 americans, and we'd have a good map

Note that most of the maps in BF2 feel odd because almost all of them have every single type of vehicle in the game. Good maps don't do this, good maps balance things better. if the insurgents have lots or rpgs and a numerical advantage, and the US has a bunch of humvees, a few little birds and one or two black hawks, we have a hard level.

the idea is to make a map where everyone stands a chance against everyone, but being in a vehicle gives you a bit of an advantage, but not much. Like, being in a humvee lets you go fast, but its a bullet magnet, same sort of advantage with being in a helicopter, they are fast and have chain guns, but if you ambush them with an rpg, they go down.


OOO i just had another idea. For maps, you could have a secondary objective that would be : Don't incur more than 60 deaths on your team in this battle, and if you completed this objective, it would double your team's score or something at the end.

I just suggested the same thing in the "New Flag System" thread, and it would be wonderful with some more story based fighting than the generic "shoot/get shot" routine. Which is pretty pointless when you get down to it.

ya... I agree, and admit to stealing most of those ideas, sorry.

some maps would be way more infantry based, but have only one life per person? as long as we have a good mod that works, we can experiment with all sorts of maps, and i think having a wide variety of maps with different settings and objectives and gameplay styles would make the mod more diverse and otherwise better. but it all depends on how much work the devs want to do... heh.

One life per person is probably taking the fun out of it. I know I get killed a lot, so I would probably be pissed having to seat out the whole round because some sniper got lucky on my noggin'

But more diverse spawning maybe. For example inside APC's, which would look a lot better than popping out of thin air (And before you ask, the APC is magical)

Exactly, it works with games with small maps like CS and CoD (dunno how big maps are in aa) but with maps as large as in BF2 it won't work because it can take a very long time than before the last two guys will find each other.
And you'll have to stare to the sky all that time when you're dead, but if you want it that way, you can change the respawn time in the stock game already.

I would like to see multiple spawnpoints near the CP that's are in your possession, instead of spawning on one point which causes so much spawnkilling.
