I am a seasoned Heli pilot coming from arma 3 and I was just wondering how flying in this compares, and if I can use my Joystick and throttle.

unfortunately HOTAS doesn't work that well with Helis in this game, but for jets yeah it works just fine.....

i think mouse has more precision in heli control

I fly choppers with HOTAS in PR and won't fly any other way. IMO it has far more control, especially when it comes to accent/decent speed with a proper throttle to control the engine but each to their own at the end of the day.

I use a joystick for flying jets, and a mouse and keyboard for flying helicopters.

I use joystick and throttle for jets, and mouse and throttle for helicopters, never could get the hang of joystick flying helicopters.

I used to do that back in the day before I got myself a joystick.

So you are using something else, always.

Ye I use to use k/b only way back in the days before I got a stick but now I have one, don't touch the k/b.

Joystick guy here.
I think the Arma 3 physics are a little more demanding and far less forgiving than in PR, but there is far more to do and a lot of finesse and communication in PR.
If you like flying, you'll have fun in either game, but you'll probably rack up the war stories in PR faster.

Fly (flew technically I suppose) with M&K for helicopters.
Dabbled a little in flying in ArmA and the PR flying at a basic level is easier to get a handle of. The aircraft generally feel lighter and more agile.
The difficultly lies more with knowing when/where to fly on each map rather than the how to fly. That's the challenge and where you'll get the excitement from.

Never played ArmA 3. How's the flying in that game compared to PR and FSX? Control/operation wise, not just the combat game aspect.

A lot "heavier" and a lot more unforgiving. I guess - in terms of physics - a lot more realistic?

Mouse provides smoother movement but if you want to do an sudden pull-up or roll you need to drag your mouse from one side of your desk to the other.
Keyboard is not that smooth (unless you fly like you play the piano), but you can do extreme manuevers more easilly.
From my experience I think the most efecient thing one can do is fly with the mouse and bind the space key for doing pull-ups (so you can do dives easier).

HOTAS with rudder pedals here. Was originally flying with a stick with a twist handle, re-wiring my brain to use the rudder pedals instead took a while, but I wouldn't have it any other way after using this setup.

'Realistic' compared to FSX or PR?
