Vehicles getting 'tracked' too much

Does anyone else experience this? APCs and tanks getting tracked way too often, same for attack helicopter engine failure.

One frontal hit from a small LAT=tracked, sometimes even both turret and tracks (how does that make any sense?)
Some 14.5mm HE hits to the attack helicopter, only light smoke=engine failure, then crash.

I think it doesn't even make sense from a realistic standpoint.
A frontal hit isn't very likely to hit and take out the tracks, the dmg threshold for tracking should be adjusted so mostly only side hits (and rear hits) have the potential to track APCs imo.

Also doesn't make much sense for attack helicopters, most variants have a twin engine setup and other redundancies, the odds of just some 14.5mm shells taking out both of them are very low. Imo only when the helicopter starts burning it should cross the dmg threshold where engine failure becomes a possibility, emulating the fire disabling the 2nd engine. Yaw (back rotor) track is fine imo with how often it happens, makes sense since it is in fact a very vulnerable part of the helicopter.

Since a few patches ago the odds of getting tracked by a single LAT seems to have gone up from 40-60% to around 90%.

From a realistic standpoint the chances of an APC surviving a LAT are next to null, afaik.

Depends on the LAT. And to eliminate an armoured vehicle is a very complicated process.

How so, if it penetrates?

And what APC's defeat which LATs?

How is the HEAT projectile supposed to knock out an APC if it hits the back of the vehicle, where neither the driver, nor the gunner is present? You could fire like 20+ HEAT rounds and nothing would have happened. ;-)

APs is another story since they generate many more fragments inside the vehicle they hit.

If the crew, engine and transmission are ok, not hit, then it's not a big deal, at all.

If something penetrates you can expect shrapnel to pass throughout the vehicle, a deadly or at least life-threatening thing.

Uphraded NATO APCs are probably more or less impervious to lighter RPG, but you wouldn't bet your life on it. Hits in critical areas can hamper your mobility or possibly cause your vehicle to be inoperable.

A very interesting reading!

Now we could look into which type of a projectile each LAT uses. Though I bet it's HEAT in each and every one of them. Are there any interesting types of projectiles that remote AT weaponry uses?

Noticed this too a couple a months ago, APCs seemed unplayable. Made a post about it; nothing happened

Took a break from APCs, played mostly CAS, INF, and Trans

Gave today a shot because the server needed an APC squad...and guess what!

Get tracked twice in a row from a short burst of BTR-60 fire

Already a thread about it

Vehicle tracking numbers are being discussed at the moment.
