Does anybody know any way to just press the ctrl key to stay crouched instead of holding it?

Best advice is to just get used to it.

I'm disabled and my left hand is half numb so I tried a macro way back to toggle crouch, and I can say with certainty that it's more headache than it's worth. First - if you go prone while forcing a crouch hold through a macro, there is a huge chance you'll just stand up out of the blue (from cover, you'll get shot pretty fast). Second, there is no visible indicator that you've now toggled a button on your keyboard, and when things get busy in-game, you don't want to go fiddling with your stance to be sure you are un-crouched. Got me killed or slowed down my movement too many times to be a viable option.

Just deal with it - go prone if you can so you don't need to hold it, or maybe put another crouch button on your mouse if you can so you can "take a break" without leaving a crouched stance.

Iirc BadSanta managed to hack crouch toggle into his client mod. No idea if that would work on dedicated tho.
Personally I am using a script for it and set crouch to C. I have no issues with it and the only thing that sometimes happens is me going crouch right after revive when I dies while crouching.

what's the diff between crouch and crouch_ingame? I don't understand the description.

"Crouch_ingame" is the key you bound in your controls in PR to crouching. I suggest to use a key you normally dont use and does nothing in when typing etc, so right windows key was a good pick for me.
"Crouch" is the key you want to use for crouching, so they key you actually press while playing to crouch.

I think I get it. You still have to map "Crouch_ingame" in order to tell the script which key is "crouch" replacing, right?

You have to tell the script which key to hold down in order to crouch in game.
