I was just curious, what is everyone's opinion on the BEST main... battle... rifle in PR, and why?

This is essentially the rifle for the "rifleman" in any given PR faction, if you dispute that please say so.

I will reserve my opinion for later.

C7A2 from Canada’s riflemen best scope little deviation really good 900 rpm

G36A1 would probably take the second place because of the integrated sights really good for switching from far to CQB

If we're talking Rifles in general/Assault Rifles, i like the M16A4 with the ACOG.
If we're talking about the actual meaning of Battle Rifle(full rifle caliber, select fire), then it'd be the G3, as there ain't many Battle Rifles in game, outside of it, and the FAL. But that's just semantics.

Definitely some of the full auto AR platform rifles, 900 rpm plus no recoil

For me its the G3. Basically everyone has a marksman rifle, and if you are experienced enough the recoil is no longer a issue and you can go full auto with it provided you dump the entire mag for precautions.
If you have a good aim you leave very little room for you opponent to react, usually takes me 2-4 shots.

Besides that the M4/M16A4 are a extremely reliable rifle provided you have the experience as well, l cant place it into words but Id say the Burst mechanisms allows you to be accurate but at the same time I dont notice a detriment in RPM that can lead to complains

AKM for me is best battle rifle, I will admit it seems to hit a bit off to the side from its point of aim in semi-auto but i always put enemy down with it. The trident sights help me lead targets where a ring sight messes me up cause the top part perceptually messing up where i put the target at while leading. 2nd best rifle for me is M16A4.

If you want to get nit-picky about what is a battle rifle, like some people consider only G3, M14, FAL, SCAR to be battle rifles due their size and assumed nature of appearance. If i had to pick there it would be M14 from Vietnam. I dont like those bigger rifles because the kick takes me a second longer to reset to my point of aim where intermediary calibers allow a faster more accurate second shot sooner. Favorite old time bolt action battle rifle is the Mosin Nagant.

based G3 aficionado. But yeah G3 is good, hard hitting and accurate especially with a scope. Don't bother aiming at CQC just hipfire and pray. I like the Type 56(?) AK as well, the irons feel better than any of the other variants.

Bonus, my least favorite is the AK-74. Feels inaccurate and weak compared to the M4 somehow, even if it's entirely a mental thing.

The M4 + reflex sight has always been my favorite. It's just extremely satisfying to shoot, idk why.

Me and some other people established that even in direct point of aim deviation set the scope of the SA80 shoots a bit to the left or right. This goes for both scopes but more noticeable to the needle scope type because nobody knows where to aim to put the needle.

The SA80 cannot fire as fast in semi-auto as the M16. I personally only use semi-auto with M16 cause 3 round burst gives 10 clicks of trigger pulling instead of 30. I tried SA80 in semi-auto full time including close quarters pre-firing, i dont like it. I dont like SA80 for its automatic and slow bull pulp reloads of reaching over for charging handle when i need to bail in close quarters combat. SA80 needs ambidextrous charging handle so it can be locked and loaded without reaching. Overall SA80 is a terrible rifle.

A good modern weapon will be developed based off anything this Vietnam veteran of night combat against human waves says in this video called "Human Waves-Night Combat Vietnam". Needs to be sturdy, able to lift a human on end of bayonet without hot gas tube or barrel breaking/weakening/bending. Needs to outreach the Chinese QBZ rifles, old Type-56 AKs, SKS, Mosin Nagants, AKM and AK-74M. Needs to survive beating geared up enemies with it. Needs to not lock or jam up bolt with damaged gun metal if bullet or shrapnel hits it. This is why AKM would be my choice for this game and IRL.

Personally the MEC's scoped G3A3 is still my favorite weapon despite being objectively not well-suited to its role—mostly because I like its aesthetics and how it can kill in just two hits. Also, being as pedantic as possible, the G3A3 is the only answer because it's the only battle rifle in the game that's the "main" weapon of any faction (unless you count the Garand).

for normal rifles : M16A1, G36A1
and battle rifles : the Chad G3A3 and FN FAL

i just don't get it why people complain about the G3 and say the G3 should be removed from MEC
don't want another AK based faction

it's the best battle rifle (MEC and proud)

g36a1 and the la5a2 fitted with two scopes for close and med/long range fights helps

The FAL for the FSA / ARF is definetly my go to rifle

For me its - G3
Scoped version has clear and accurate scope, one shot one kill.

In overall imo MEC is best OPFOR faction - best rifles, high damage AR, Eryx etc.

MEC is a good faction for open desert fights for those reasons but G3, especially scoped, suck in CQB due to high recoil, 20 round mag, slow reloads and overall clumsy handling. Kits with BUIS are good for both long range and CQB.
