Because of this, it's not possible to lay a mine at the very edge of the map. Vehicle drivers know this, so they aren't afraid to just cling to the map edge and avoid all mines. Is there some way to allow mines to be RIGHT on the edge of the combatzone/dod? Just a couple of meters' difference would totally fix the issue.

Yes, and we're working on a work-around for invisible mines.
