Last couple of months I noticed that PR's player numbers have cratered. Even during peak times the servers aren't fully full. I really dont play that much anymore, because I have little to no interest to do so. Did everyone just lose interest in PR around the same time as me or what?

P.S. I dont really play any other games either. Tarkov, Squad, Battlefield are all dead to me. PR is the last game I can still somewhat enjoy.

Combination of no north american server being up and several titles being released/updated recently. Plus many people don't play in the EU server because of high ping.

Sounds more like server bias.

I got no problem playing on eu servers. Yeah my ping is in the low 100s but I manage. No, I think the bigger problem is that PR is like shambling zombie or Frankenstein's monsters. Not knowing that it's effectively dead, but kept alive through the sheer love and will of it's players. I really want to revive PR. It's still the best tactical milsim FPS out there. Fuck squad, fuck arma and fuck all other posers. They aint got shit on PR.

I wasn't referring to you personally. I have no qualms about playing in higher ping servers either, however, from experience I know that North Americans are far less inclined to play in a Euro server than the other way around. With the player base the way it is now, you need maximum participation from the remaining players. HOG becoming unplayable at times and a switch to another server puts a dent into said participation.

Theres been several times within the past two months where the weekend player count exceeded 600 players. Its been low on NA during the weekdays because U777 managed to take over partially.

Full servers and daily development for the next update hardly means the game is going under, player counts will be highest during the summer because that's when people who attend school or uni have the most time

The (supposed) death of hog is not the issue. My problem lies with PR just feeling so dead now. I feel like all the skilled players have either quit or moved on. I met other pr players in tarkov and post scriptum. None of them want to come back. They just lost interest in PR. Like I did, too. What happened? What players quit and took all of PR with them? Was there some weird psychic message broadcasted when they quit or something?

All players get to the point when the good old game no longer gives you those good old vibes. That's when they die inside, but many lash out and say that "The game is dead!"... But they are the dead ones

It's a combination of factors for sure. People growing up, starting to have different interests, families, game being dated, communities dead etc.

I personally only hopped on PR servers 10-15 times in the past 3-4 years, didn't stay on for long, and I was left with a sour tasted in my mouth. Why?

The servers I used to play on and the communities seem to be dead (PRTA, Merk etc I'm even struggling to remember other EU servers/ communities tbh). And those communities made the game great, for me at least.

Even checking the top players in each team, I didn't recognize most of the names, 5 years ago and before you'd join a EU server and it would be like walking in the local pub (oh there's X, Y and Z, hi X, Y and Z how are you guys) "Oh sh*t, virussiselli is on the other team doing CAS" < (EU players will know)

I think that I can probably count on my hands the number of times left of me logging into PR and playing before actually leaving PR as a memory only. I will just hop into a server for good times sake, play like 30 mins, realize that I'm not getting the good old vibes, just like Wicca said and then log off reminiscing on the good old times when I was younger and having my golden years of gaming. This game was and will be my #1 game of all times.

I don't know, guys, something happened from the middle to the end of December that caused 3-4 EU servers to fill up like constantly, I can't believe how many players are playing this great game lately...


My other observation is that a lot of new players have appeared, there are a lot of teamkills (which I think is more a sign of inexperience), there are a lot of new easy prey who are easy to shoot.


I hope it's not just the usual holiday flare-up and it lasts for a while

Its due to frustrations, PR can take a lot out of you. Long time players need breaks. I can play cause I can find a list of ways to satisfy myself in game. Huge suppression Super FOB defense, climbing trees, playing dead, firing to make noise to grab enemy attention to save friendly.

Recently, due to the influx of new players with language barriers and their type of toxicity, one example is taking a vehicle your squad is using just to rush it close to enemy as a taxi leaving you in the gun seat, or the vehicle gets klilled for moving so close to enemy that their LAT has a shot.

A jeep has unlimited ammo in main like all other vehicles, the more rounds you put towards the enemy the less they can do, the more suppressed they feel.

A lot of these new players don't have basic common sense, the closer you drive to enemy, the less distance there is, which distance is what makes enemy miss keeping you safe.

I saw some new Russian players taking a transport truck I needed for ammo for our 3 HMGs (2 regular HMG, 1 AA tripod) as NVA (1 logi doesn't respawn) on Charlies point between Docks and the South flag just before the Airfield to its west. A truck I can use for unlimited ammo crates, they get in and drive no more than 100 meters then die. The flag is right there, they didn't need the truck and I couldn't tell them due to language barriers.

Even ones without language barriers do this, like Fantik, if you see him take his vehicles, run him over on accident. Any player who takes your squads jeep or transport truck to lone wolf close to the enemy, drive and run them over. Teach them empathy, don't use words, use actions to express how it made you feel.

Do this to all players like this who take what you are doing and ruin it, RUIN THE BAD PLAYERS FUN.

Put a pistol round in them so they use their patch. Write their names down, if they want to rush enemy using a competent squads vehicle put them under friendly fire and enemy fire.

I know trucks, boats and jeeps aren't claimable. I personally always ask even though I could just do what these players do to me.. But if that is what they are going to do with the teams assets they shouldn't be playing or ruining other players experience.

I wonder if it has anything to do with having to update your operating system to play PR now if you are still using Windows 7 or something?

I never minded playing on EU servers, usually ones in China were the only ones where my ping is high enough to be a problem.

Player base changed significantly over the past four years.

I came on a few days ago to find the entire server filled with people that I have never seen before in my entire PR history (In other words its a bunch of new less experienced players). And if you know one thing about PR, it's that the experienced players love a challenge but new players don't give us that challenge we want so we go on to something different. I myself moved on to Arma 3 and Squad (both of which I kinda rarely play now) for that PR like gameplay experience

Besides that there's not been many updates, I keep seeing teasers of features that should probably be in game now (I don't know why the icon pack hasn't be fully implemented if we already have screenshots of it working as intended?). Content keeps players, no new content, old players get bored of the same thing and move on.

See, I dont mind new players. I'm always nice to them, because they replete and replenish the ever dwindling PR community. I love taking new guys out and doing stupid GTA level shit like drivebys. I always let them gun, because it's more fun to gun than drive(And besides I'm ryan gosling, I drive). Or planting big *** Arty IEDs and letting them blow shit up.

I think that OGs gotta train new players and not be scum to them. I've seen it so many times, when certain friend groups join the server and some new guy, usually a young kid joins and he's shy on the mic. And the old heads treat him with contempt. It's really disheartening for the new guys.

You gotta welcome new players and stop being ***** to them. Doesn't matter where they from. If they dont speak english or have a mic that's fine too. As long as they dont act up. Yeah you might lose the round, but training a new class of players takes a while.

I have a windows 10 partition and PR is just as bad on it, when connecting to certain servers.

PR players have always talked shit about new players, with every influx. I always made the point you did, that we actually need these people, so influxes are a good thing.

Also, that it is up to us experienced PR players to train the retards.

I meant about one of the updates not too long ago where people had to download something for their operating system to run PR, or get windows 10 or higher.

I wondered if something like that would push some out, or cause some not to join PR, if they had an older version of windows.
