Fences in PR

I have searched and have found nothing on this.

This is on every linked fence in the game. You cannot shoot throught it!

Happens on every server, every map, and not only me.

I try to shoot people that i can clearly see through the fence, and i cant. They cant either. we end up just staring at each other through the fence and laughing in chat.

This should definetly be fixed since there is a big fence on muttra at docks that you kinda need to shoot through.

Amazing mod! keep up the great work guys. I dont play anything else but this. Sad, but wtv

i thought you could shoot through that fence? its not really hard to do in the engine BUT the drawback is if bullets go through all ballistic elements can go through...ie shells. rockets etc... BUT the fence doesnt take any damage....

so where do we comprimise...??

I only noticed this late last night, luckily I was quick enough to realise and lobbed my grenades over before they could say "oh sh**"

I thought that in 0.4 a bullet would sometimes go through, sometimes not. Like if it hit the fence, it would not go through. If it hit an open space, it would go through.

snipers are able to fire through fences.

When both teams were facing each other off over a fence, i was knelt behind my troops about 50m away and took down all the enemy one shot at a time!

seems you can fire through the Muttrah fence near the sign but you cant fire through the fence on that new map with train/suburb/construction.

known bug. It's been posted in the tester forums. Seems to be all fences.

What's weird is you hear the bullet "plink" off the fence and you hear the sonic cracks if you are being shot at, but you never get hit.

bah, I climbed on the sign at Muttrah and got shot at from where I thought was other side of fence and died :(
mustve been from the gap or roof then, Im sure I had fire whizzing past me from there though
I remember climbing up the ladder on the birdwatcher sign thinking I was safe from the US bloke on the other side.

well truthfully there are 3 collision meshes for a model and one visible mesh..

the collisions are
1. player
2. vehicle
3. bullets

so if the 3rd collison mesh blocks bullets then you will not get hit..if it doesnt block them then you will get hit...I dont think there is any percentage to pass collision mesh or anything like that sooooo...

mattb would know better but it is basically a yes or no question....

the only way you could do it would be if the collision mesh for bullets is a mesh which would take a truckload of polys and cause all kinds of crazy calculations...

IronTaxi, I think the idea is to remove the bullet mesh for fences in its entirety.

What about those sheet metal fences that you can shoot through? Are you saying you can shoot rockets through them as well?

try it out. i have yet to see a rocket go through a sheet metal fence. it'll be interesting though

good call guys i didnt think about it too deeply...ive modeled some stuff like the hedgehogs but they had very simple ballistic properties..id imagine that each material has an effects sheet then.. which things/will and wont pass the colission mesh..ive never actually tweaked anyhting in the editor aside from metal surfaces... hmm.. well no idea.. but im pretty sure ive shot things through that fence on muttrah heaps... maybe i suck though...hehehe...

im outta here sense im useless...
