DAMASK bomb, any chance of it in PR?

I just saw this on the History Channel, and I think this thing is Amazing 8)

Im not sure if it's called DAMASK, but if not, its real name sounds similar

Here is some of the basic Info-

-This bomb uses both GPS and Image Identification to find and destroy targets...

-The accuracy can be programed to as little as 2 feet I think...

-Plans are to have it in use by 2010.

Here's how it works

Okay, well IRL here's how it works... When fired, the on board GPS system guides the bomb into a mile of the target, once the bomb is within a mile of the target, it switches over the Image Identification, the bomb has already been programed previously with a photo of the target (building, bridge, tank, whatever) Then the bomb identifies the target, and directs its self to the target, and well... KABOOM

Imagine how sweet this could be in PR, imagine if the Commander or Pilot/Co-Pilot could get an image of the intended target either by selecting an image of a possible list of targets(tanks, vehicles, bridges, UAV, etc.) Or if the Commander could actually take a picture using zoom on his/her map, the picture would pop up on the pilots screen, say in the top right corner a small image would pop up, then the pilot could either agree or disagree to program his/her bomb with the image, if they accept, the place where the pic was taken would be marked on the map, then they fly near the target and release the bomb, and get the hit, pretty much fire and forget... not to mention the shock  & aww :o of watching a bomb land directly on the turrent of the enemy tank!!!

Well What Do You Think

a tank with a camo net over it and you might find it taking out a school bus or something is it just me or does this make anyone else nervous? i mean i dont trust a computer to be certain which is the rite target if the picture its been programed with is from a different angel or something

Sounds a little like those Block IV Tomahawks except they have the ability to loiter over target areas and strike targets of oppurtunity.

wahha, that thing is dangerous.. its programmed to destroy a limosine with a high political figure.... it mistakes it for a school bus full of children, KABOOOOOM!!! and collateral damage beyond repair, and the US media blames it all on the military!!!

Actually, NO... By pictures, what I really mean is almost something like a computer model/picture... The object it's programed for is alittle more sofisticated then a simple kodak picture, we're looking at highly detailed models, etc. The missle its self, they said could, if wanted, could be programmed to hit a certain apartment in an apartment building, just program it with a computer model of the apartment and mark the window of that apartment, and it'll take it out... Were talking about highly precision weaponry here, remember, the goal is to reduce civilian casualties, not increase them, so im sure this wouldnt even be in testing, etc. If it could mistake a school bus for a enemy tank, vehicle, etc.

sounds like a good idea, but are these missiles launched off stationary platforms or can they be dropped from say an F-15 like u said?

Where would you launch it from. It sound's like allot of work for a pilot to do.
