Issues to be solved before .6

The RPG! This weapon will drive you nuts with its random deviation. I know Devs want a weapon that wont pose so much threat, but hey cobras are hovering 10-15 feet above us because they know they are invulnerable. Ive had it with al Basra. Look at this screen shot. I shot an RPG at an apc maybe 50m infront of me and it hit the ground about 15m in front of me (the black patch o the ground). This is a total joke!

Weapon recoil. Its too much, its not even close to reality. Yesterday i went to Salisbury plains to see a British army demo. We saw challenger tanks fire and i had a go on some weapons. For £250, i shot the Bren gun, Lee Enfield, mp5, m4 and ak47. The recoil on the mp5 and m4 was hardly noticeable. You could shoot it full auto with little muzzle climb. The .4 m4 and mec mp5 was almost a true representation. Im suggesting that the Devs go revert to .4 recoil for all weapons except the m4 and g3 for balance issues. The way it feels now is just not right.

EDIT: Look at this video i found from mp.net. It show us spec forces doing weapon practise. Kinda supports my claim about recoil

Er, thanks Duke.

How long did it take you to lift the M4 to your shoulder, line up your eye and the scope, line up the gun with the target and steady the gun? Right now in PR this process which can take up to a second is instant on all guns except the support guns and the Chinese guns. Recoil may be greater than it is in real life because target acquisition is faster than in real life. The slower aiming hack that the QBZ uses feels awkward and I don't know if all the guns should adopt this. The best possible mechanism, shaking sights, is not possible with the BF2 engine. I think a slight increase in recoil is acceptable until a better kind of balancing is found.

That said the QBZ should lose some recoil or lose the sight delay because this double nerf gives it a disadvantage on the battlefield.

your problem is that you aint aiming at it for long enouth. you have just right clicked, pointed a shooted all within 2secs. If you sit there and stand still for a sec holding the site on it, then fire you will find its a hell of alot more accruate :)

I have not noticed much of a difference other than it takes a fraction of a second to get the mouse on target. Is this really a characteristic of PR weapons and how long does it take for the dispersion effect to go away.

If this is indeed the case the spread could be increased which will destroy prone spamming for anything over 10m.

OP, that APC was *way* too far away for you to be firing at it. I've taken out BHs with insurgent RPGs. It's not that tough. Just get in close. You shouldn't be using them like other factions anyway.

Never had a problem with the Insurgent RPG. Is it because I'm special??????

The RPG is horrible. I've had it hit the ground right infront of me when I was firing level across to another building.

They probably dug the RPG rounds out of an old Russian ammo dump anyway.

Your lucky 1/3 of the rounds don't explode and kill you.....

:-P

Judging from the video the recoil looks about right. I shot a AR15 when I was 11, and although I was small, the .5 recoil for the M16 feels right lol.

There is also the mouse factor.
You can control muzzle lift during a full auto burst with the mouse and this replicates the years of training and thousands of rounds those spec ops in the video have.

its possible to make the desviation very huge when you are standing , litle when you are crouched and no desviation when you are prone?

FH do a grat job with the aim, when you move the mouse fast , the desviation becomes high , but if you muve the mouse slooowy, the desviation its the same .

maybe you could lower recoil, but make the guns barely ever shoot straight unless your prone for more 5 seconds. DOD:S is like this, the guns barely ever shoot straight, except for M1s and Kars.

While in RL the recoil most likely would not be as high, gameplay wise and balance wise i think it feels pretty solid the way it is now.

How cool is that? Where was that advertised?

Btw, I know exactly where you are coming from with the Insurgent RPG, but it is designed to be this way, you have to get in really close, hence the very high stamina that insurgents enjoy. Kinda frustrating if you line up a shot on the Civvy vehicle in Extraction to see it go wide, but these are supposed to be irregular forces.

I think firing an RPG while prone should kill you, or at least make you very very low on health. Your legs would be burned all the way down, haha. Would also be fun to see a low random factor in the "RPG oops" where the grenades explode from falty rigging. Insurgents are retarded, and not trained at all.

There's even a story of one who put a weight on the end of the round in hopes that it would balance out the very inaccurate RPG round but instead it made it shoot out and into the ground very close in front of him and it killed like half the people he was with.

Real life insurgents can't even hit the floor if they fell on it.. much less with one of those inaccurate things. RPGs are unguided, old, tempermental, and VERY inaccurate in real life. For every 50 RPGs that were shot at blackhawks in Somalia, only 3 hit. When they did, it severely damaged the first helicopter but did not ground it until 3 minutes into damaged flight when the rotar dismantled from the body of the chopper. The second RPG that took the second helicopter down was very lucky.. it went in the open door of the blackhawk and blew up INSIDE the bird, killing the pilots and two men inside instantly.. it was assumed that the others died during the crash itself.

Sorry if it busts any bubbles here but the insurgents are supposed to be effective when in greater number.. but alone, they sure are supposed so suck.

So if you want to be effective against the US, stay in greater number. Over run them. Get 5-10 RPG guys firing at the same target, and I bet the results will be different. If you're out on your own lonewolfing as an insurgent, then no.. you're going to get run over by a tank.

BAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA, -tears of laughter-

Have I shot an M4? No. Do I KNOW that 0.4 recoil was ridiculously unrealistic? Yes.

hmm, that stock is wierd! it doesn't like he has it securely in his shoulder!

He doesn't keep the rifle aiming downrange with the safety off, he was lucky he didn't shoot himself in the leg or foot loads of times, plus he was firing stood straight up but with his weight on his back foot.

That guy does not know how to shoot at all!
