My crude drawing on what a rally point should be!

I've drawn up something of what I think the rallypoint should look like. I figure that when a squad of real soldiers sets up a position to group at, it's more than just their backpacks on the ground. They would put up some kind of defensive barrier, fox holes, sandbags or something to keep the bullets from easily hitting them, or their backpacks being blown up from a lucky rifle grenade.

I also got this idea on Muttrah when I was forced to put the rallpoint up out in the open surrounded by enemies. Then all we had was our squad being shot at and no defenses. Rallypoints can easily be hid inside buildings, and that needs to be fixed as well. I think perhaps an officer should have the option to either place a defensive or a tactical rallypoint. The tactical rallypoint would be just like how it is now. The defensive should be how it is now but with some sandbags around it for defense and some camo netting that blends in with the fundamental map material - sand/grass.

Image

The netting is green because I didn't think of the blending camo for the certain maps if that is even possible, otherwise I would have made the netting a desert color. Now the squad has some cover incase their rallypoint comes under attack. I do think this is realistic because if you were going to set up a rallypoint in a real warzone then you might as well put up a few defenses to protect yourself. Don't mind the little russian guy, he's just an example.

er.. that would be a bunker ;)

a Rally Point is literally just a point where the patrol leader says "regroup here". And when you walk past that spot, you look back at it so you will remember what it looks like when you are running for your life with shit in your pants.

Before making any sort of assault, a patrol will often literally drop their 3rd line kit (knapsacks and such not vital to an assault). So er.. no plans to change it.

How about commander asset or vehicle deployable bunkers from a supply truck or something? They should be destroyable, maybe come with a machine gun and primarily as a defensive utility.

Well, since RPs have been introduced we know you can place static objects in the map at the player's choice. So can we have engineers able to put up sandbags? It could work like ammo bags, he puts up 3 sections of sandbags, but if he puts up another it erases the first one.

Sounds complicated.

another idea: anyone who's watched southpark will know that you defecate noisily upon dying, so for extra realism we should mix in some fart noises with the screams/coughing

lol at that thing you drew being placed inside a building. Collision glitches ftw.

Here is an idea, just place your rally point inside an existing bunker and call it a day.

Now wouldn't that look ridiculous inside a building?

Let's do this right if you want realism. Make every play with the same 50 lb ruck, then have the SL set a rally point and that's where you can drop your extraneous non-combat related gear, just like in life! Sorry kiddo's, but RP's are rp's anyway you look at it!

Desert Combat had something like that. There was a limited number, but people could make some decent little forts when they worked together, on par with a nice couch cushion fort.

It was toned down/removed if I recall correctly.
