Hi.

I would like a feature for squads to request airstrikes from the heli pilots or aircrafts.

Like the arty with a symbol that only the ones with pilot gear would see.

I think this feature would enhance the teamwork between the air units and the grunts.

Well, if the air vehicle is in the same squad, then that is easy enough, but that is not what you are asking for. Squad leaders do have green signal flares that could be used to mark airstrikes, at least in the world, if not on the map. Again though, you need to communicate that you have dropped green flare and what you want the pilot to do about it manually. I'd suggest that if possible, the flares appear on the map, at least to pilots, rather than anything else (OK, you can see the flares from the air, but you need to know that someone wants you to look for a flare and what to do there).

Oh, and so you know I'm stealing from other games, you throw a flare in Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory to call in an airstrike (provided by the game, not from player in air vehicles).

Incidentally, has anyone ever actually used the green officer flares to good effect? I only drop them when I forget I lost my smoke grenades and curse Frankly I'd have prefered to replace the frag with flare, rather than lose my smoke, but what can you do?

I can't see any good use for them:

DEPLOYING SMOKE

<Team>SL: I need a gun-run in Sector D3, by the Green Smoke!

*No response*

<Enemy>: *Heeey there's green smoke here; dinner's up boys!*

Meanwhile...

<Team>SL: Come on guys! I need a straifing run quickl-You Have Been Killed
<Enemy>: SUCKIT, WHOSE MY ******?!

I agree, getting air support from people not in your squad is next to impossible. The only problem is that lots of people would be requesting the air support as it is in short supply and everybody wants it;the pilots would be virtually spammed with requests.

I think that this is a great suggestion, but could you get around filtering the requests down to a manageable level? Maybe if only squad leaders could request it?

Also maybe limiting the squad leaders to 1 request per minute or 1 every 30 sec or something. That would help filter the spamming maybe?

That would be easy like arty one or two that you can see or let the airstrike request work as a order from the commander.
