L85 Recoil.

I'm not sure if it was tweaked for balance or what not. But the L85s recoil is extremely bad compared too how it is in Real life. This has been bugging me for a while now.

Its been bugging a few serving and ex-serving british armed forces but i dont think that itll be changed because it would ruin the gameplay, apparently.

Hmm, i assumed that would've been the problem. Shame there is no jamming, that would balance the L85 in perfectly ^_^

How do you compare recoil in a videogame to recoil in person?

Easily, compare the recoil when you normally fire to an object thats in game. (I choose a door) and than work out the difference.

I watched video of my little brother using an L85A2 and it climbed and to the right. He says the A2 model has more recoil than the A1 model, but I never got to use the A2 model myself so can't say anything there.
Based on the two factory gas settings the A1 used to have, the lower speed model is fully controllable on auto and the faster one has more movement obviously. I've used the slow firing model with blanks (which make it fire faster than live rounds) and know that running diagonally, with one arm out holding the rifle like a pistol you can fire full auto and at 30m firing at a full sized target recoil makes the rounds spray in a pattern about 3 times the width of the full sized target.
The recoil doesn't even have the strength to put out your collar bone even if you don't hold it correctly. It's very well balanced and the additional skill increase it gives to a user gives Brit troops an edge.
But in this game, theres not going to be some very happy bunnies who find themselves in a server with equal players facing a side of brits with unerring accuracy. It would be like coming up against an entire side of players with aimbots turned on.
Hence why even though the game is about reality, for the sake of gameplay and equilising things somewhat the rifle is going to appear a bit nerfed. Start practising with the rifle on single shot, going for headshots all the time and when you get your own skill level up, you'll see you have an advantage as it is, especially against Insurgent forces on say Helmand Province.
In testing, I'm sure theres some people who've been around when i've been pushing single shot firing and there was once when the line almost got crossed and I was almost at the point of being accused of hacking because my fire was so effective
watch this and know why you don't need to be going for the sniper rifles :

Mr D, by no means am i saying it's a poor rifle. Just bugged me is all. But for the sake of balance I'll let it annoy me. And yeah, who needs a sniper

it should probably be less then the M16 as it is 5.56x46 insted of 5.56x56 like m16

Though the L85 is heavier, so would have less felt recoil.

Nooooo, you guys have it wrong.
The gas parts on the rifle are designed for balance and less recoil. They are technically superior in action to most rifles, hence the low recoil

I can see the points being made but as much as a realist fan I am, it is already too great. 4 shots per corpse MAX ..very effective in the right hands.
Is there such thing as getting used to gaming recoil haha

As long as you're using it in Europe

Anywhere else and it jams faster than you can pull the trigger ^_^

When i fired the SA80A2 on Auto i could get off 3 controlled rounds without mad recoil kept on traget. When i fired the SLR it nearly took off

It does have a SUSAT so that would magnify any recoil there is. Remember that. If i recall correctly, the ironsight L85 has little recoil. Much lower than the ironsight M16....
