new classes - Paratroopers/Airborne?

Just a suggestion but I believe I'm right in saying SF is the only class with a parachute?

I'm thinking there should maybe be some PARA/Airborne classes?

one rifleman, one support or and a medic

I know its a lot of work

and I'm fully aware of the disadvantages concerning RPG'ing the littlebirds and blackhawks that have to land on Mutrah :(

What do other people think?

Which version are you playing? Special Forces no longer have the parachute. And I hope you aren't suggesting that people have parachutes and jump out of choppers, because that is a bit insane. It would be cool if there was a C-130 and you could parachute out of it.

It would only be realistic, IMO, to give every soldier on a team a parachute. Plus, IRL, I don't think you're going to find random paratroopers dropping down from the sky during battles. They're going to drop before the battle.

I know it wouldnt be realistic but it was already or previously in.

I never knew it had been suggested before

I would even go so far as to suggest special ops/airborne in a whole faction/team by itself with it's own classes. Could be neat for any new gameplay types that come in. ;) US airborne vs. heavily defended mercenaries or insurgents. :D

On certain maps (cough, airport) the entire team gets parachutes. Close enough to paratroopers for me, lol. Also, special forces have had their parachutes removed in .5

but i think it would be cool if the paratroopers would have a little differents equipment than the other "normal" forces, eg like having L85a carabines.

good suggestion! when you have completed the models/skins for the L85a carbines, send them in, we will review them, and get them in game :)

I've seen that video.

Blackhawk is high and the chuts release as soon as they leave the chopper.

@ L85a carabines: you already did moddel a L85a so i think using this basis and make a carabine out off it should not be so hard ?

I may sound like a gun noob with this question, but what exactly is a carbine? How does it differ from a non-carbine?

I'm not sure but it can be a carbine with a shorter barrel/no stock/ shorter/extendable stock... anyway I believe it makes it shorter in the long run and its less accurate at longer ranges but it is lighter and easier to use in CQB obviously

here you can see the differences between the normal L85a and the carabine and as interesting detail, there is written that tank crews in irak have the carabine, so it would also be a accurate gun for the crewmans

True, but its not one for the Paras. They (well, most of them, anyway) use standard L85s like everyone else.

And if you do remodel an exitising model, you'd be better off starting with the L86 as the L22 is essentially a cut down L86.
