'Ranked' Project Realism World

hi there!

i just got the news thru email, that youre going to release the minimod this weekend!
thats GREAT!

also i read in the forums, that there is a probably a new Gamemode?
is this new gamemode available in this minimod as extra gamemode - or as replacement of the old original gamemode!?

the reason i ask this is because im working on project ABR.
Aka "Alternate Battlefield Ranking"

Abr is a Client Application, that makes it possible to choose 'ranked' Bf2 world's.
Each "world" has its own Rulesets/criteria regarding Unlocks, Ranks and awards.
The 'World Administrator' is responsible for maintaining the world and it's servers.
Statistics can be seen from INGAME thru BFHQ, or on our Website.
Please note that the project is under heavy development.

it would be fantastic if there could be a REALiSM world, with only Realism enabled servers, and create a unique leaderboard of 'Realism' Stats.

since we are working around te clock to make ABR exactly the same a EA's ranked world, we dont have time to do much PR.

anyway, i cant wait to get my server 'Realized'
and i will make a special world for PRMM enabled servers.

this is why i want to know more about the game-mode.
So i can implement it at the ABR core.

if you want more information on abr : http://www.bf2scripts.com/index.php
or http://www.bf2scripts.com/ABR-PICS/

cheers!

i can honestly say that ranking in bf2 does not effect my playing. it does in CSS but not bf2 because kills and deaths are soo often due to the vehicles.
imo ranking systems are good for allot of reasons. if you care about stats and you dont suck, you got nothing to worry about...
If you suck then dont care about stats

The problem is that EA arranged the stats so its basically the more you play the more authority you get on the battlefield and the more weapons you can unlock.
A much better system would have been authority based on your current skill and teamwork. That way it promotes new players to take commander etc wheras they couldent before because somone else always stole the spot.
But EA wanted an initial rush of money and all the bf2 'freak players' rushed to get it seconds before others did.
ive even seen topics of people complaining becasuse it was released in some countires before others...
In reality your rank does not count on solid time on battlefield it depends on your skill, teamwork and attitude and capability to lead. The last point is the most important.

For me: Stats = who cares...?

Yay for shiny new badge! You sat in an IGLA site for 10 minutes, here is an award...

Why doesn't BF2 have more sensible badges like: Here is the TKers badge, the bunnyhopper's badge, the Shitty *** Pilot badge, etc...

But if you want to run it with rankings, go ahead, be my guest, don't not do it just because im not a fan.

i object to the entire rank reward system, 90% of video games are achievment based games, where your supposed to work towards getting something or beating the game,

thats why i loved BF42 and BFV they werent about who could beat the game the fastest or who could stat whore the most or who could BH exploit for the most points, it was about the fun of a war simulator, playing against people trying to win a round and have fun playing out a childhood Soldier fantasy,

the rank system has destroyed the legacy of the battlefield franchise and corrupted 90% of the community, the reason i loved BF was i didnt have to try and beat the game just my peers,

im sooooo sick of everyone worrying about what rank they are or how many unlocks or medals theyve got its retarded and its pissing me off, if you want to play achievment based games go play Medal of Honor or one of the other 9 million games like that, but play battlefield because you want to have fun and simulate war not whore for stats.

if someone called me a stat whore id be seriously offended, people take it as a compliment

Why not add them for those who want them? By having them, you who don't want them aren't hurt...but by not having them those who do want them are hurt while you are the same as if they were there. Ya follow?

i think a ranking in a community way would be cool, like have your rank from teh forums plus leadership youve shown through playing with the community = your rank. that way its stil about teamwork and such.

exactly it has to be more structure, and it is why the modding community should band together and boycott the making of MODS. until they give Modding community a way to make their own ranking system.

Remember EA/Dice are depending on the community to make their game last. They made 50 million. Now that 50 million should invest in the mods rank server.

Or even bring our a program for mods to set up their own rank servers.
