HI, I am now, and am downloading the mod as I type. It looks really great and sounds like players are really enjoying it! I cant wait.

My quesiton is this: Since it is such a team oriented game (which I love) is VOIP neccessary? The problem is I built a new computer nand my USB headphones/headset no longer work with my new sound card. I really want to play butr hope squadmates dotn get pissed at me for not bieng able to talk.

anyone know of a good microphone I can wear around my neck or something , I already have good regualr headphones.

It is certainly encouraged, but not required, don't worry.

Only necessary for squad leads (if you want a fully functional squad that is.)

For me VOIP is essential. Though I love teamwork through being able to communicate faster.

You'll be good, just type any messages in squad chat when you're not in combat.

Welcome to the forums and I agree its not necessary, but it's highly recommended it will make your games go much better! Sorry I don't know any kind of mics to get though =(

The majority of people I play with don't have VOIP, or are too shy to use it (including me sometimes). Even "VOIP" squads are often silent.

When I run a squad I will boot if you dont have a VOIP...just because you cant say anything back...then I dont know if you following command

If you ever plan on leading a squad, you will almost certainly NEED VOIP. However, if you can otherwise show that you aknoledge orders and requests as a squad member, be it via voice commands or typing, it should be fine.

I doubt it.
I tryed it with my XBox(old version) head set and found that you need a converter to make it the next size up of jack lead(I.E you need an attachment that can make it the same size as a normal pair of headphones).

Get one for like 15 bucks, and you'll enjoy the game more, that being said you 'could' get away without one...

I just use a $10 mic attached to my headphones. The Plantronics is on a ball and socket joint, making it extremely flexible but the Labtec is adjustable enough.

I run a squad with no voip, so long as you stick with the squad and follow the waypoints it's all good.

As a unit we won't be as cohesive as voip users but play sensibly and use some initiative it can still be fun. On the flip side I also don't have the distraction of every squad member suggesting alternatives or requesting why we move to x while feeding their baby rottweiler chunks of vbf2 players and listening to roy orbison hits in the background.

If your shy, speech impaired or just like silence and see me on a server, jump on the squad, you will be welcome.

I always leave squads that don't use VOIP ...without VOIP you only get 36% (43%, if your squad leader uses VOIP) of the real PR experience!
