Sub Machine guns are meant for self-defense weapons for people not normally in the frontline combat. Pilots should have submachine guns, so when their plane/heli goes down, and bails, the pilots should have a better chance of surviving. (ex. Blackhawk down)

These are my suggestions:

USA PILOT: MP-5

Seems like it'd only work for helos... not enough room in a jet cockpit, really.

Though I'd suggest giving the U.S. aviators MP-7s as well... they don't seem too far away ATM

I whole-heartedly agree. The pistols are useless most of the time.

Just give them whatever they currently most frequently have with them.
About pistol power. how many rounds does it take to takea guy to the floor and kill him? Not make sure he will die in the next 30mins or 10mins, how many rounds you have to put into an unarmoured person, in the torso.
As for pistols against armour.....the damamge should be neglegable.

Only for helicopters, not for jets. However that would mean a separate kit for helicopters and jets.

Thats the point. If you get shot down you're doing something wrong. The pilot is supposed to be more or less helpless out of his bird.

in response to points made above, the US pilots (if this were implimented) would have M4s. The MP5KA4 was tested during operation Gothic Serpent, and was found to be lacking in certain areas, and was promptly dropped.

The only conventional British military force that uses the MP7 is the military police, heli pilots would have L22A1/A2 carbines.

MEC pilots, in my opinion, if this were implimented (which it wont be) should have the P90.

Chinese pilots would have the Type-05 as the Chinese are switiching over to 5.8mm short from thier old 7.62x25mm SMGs and pistols

That really depends and can be completely random. Some people will immediately go into shock and pass out within seconds, even if the wound isn't fatal. Some people will simply continue on as if nothing happened with a little hole in their stomach and die an hour later from internal bleeding.

Well, against an unarmed target, I know this:
2 shots in the centre of mass have a 96% chance of incapacitating a target.
The other 4% is when the person is high on drugs or adrenaline. That is when you take a well aimed shot to the head.

Also as mentioned if you are a downed pilot you shouldn't be engaging enemies. You people really have to drop the vanilla mentality

I have been downed countless times, and your best bet is to either walk back to base, or request a pick up, not being seen.

Give em MP7s cause its so compact you can store it small spaces like inside a cockpit.

The pistol is fine. Just learn to empty the clip really fast, even if most bullets don't hit, you are firing a lot of rounds.

When I'm playing vanilla as sniper, half my kills are finished with my pistol.

Pilots in Helicopters are takin ALWAYS a m4 in it.
Have pictures of a cobra with two m4`s or pictures of OH-58 Kiowa.
But jet pilots only have pistols or a radio for throw to enemys

If all pilots in the mod are supposed to carry pistols, than why does the pilot pickup kit have an MP7. shouldnt he carry a pistol?

its just like the insurgent RPG Light AT thread. People want to PWNXZORIZE more N00BLETTZ instead play a game that referse to realism as well as it can(But is still a WIP).
