A request regarding Squad Leaders

I just left several servers where squad leaders were busy playing sniper/pilot etc and ignoring their role in the game. Would it be possible to make that position get officer kits only, like the commander?

In theory I think that's a really good idea. If someone's a squad leader then they should assume responsibility and not go screwing around.

In the other hand, think of the Pilot / Tank squads which are so needed for good coordination of assets. I've made Tank squads with 6 people, 3 per tank and it worked wonders on our team ;)

Let's just allow the community to regulate it self. Normally when I'm on an infantry squad and my SL is messing around as a sniper or whatnot I leave that squad and make my own :)

They do. A tank with 2 people is an incomplete tank. The tank MG gunner is very useful against infantry, especially against rocket-carrying infantry ;)

And it's also a good spotter.

Let the SL's have the pilots kit for transport Helis. Very handy having a squad to shoot and scoot round the maps.

I think it's fine as it is. If a squad leader is being a tool and sniping or flying a jet, go to a different squad or make your own. We don't want to restrict squad leaders too much, because maybe they want to be in an armour squad, then they need crewman kit. Squad Leaders like to have variety. I'll take the officer's kit if I plan on moving the rally point, otherwise I'll take whatever kit is necessary. Usually Spec-Ops, or some like to be medic. It's all about personal choice. If you start restricting what people can and can't do, then they wont do it at all.

If you don't drive your tank correctly ;)

Whenever I have a Tank squad it's VOIP mandatory so we always have good communications. And I never go inside a city unless I have to. Closed spaces like a city are deadly to a tank and it's crew-members.

When I was the SL of the Tank/VOIP squad in EJOD Desert we almost always got the enemy armor before they got us (but you can't always win hehe), we never got killed by AT fire and our MG gunners never got sniped.

Oh and yea, having the MG gunner be an Engineer is awesome, you can give him cover while he repairs the tank which is great, and the tank is never defenseless because it has a driver and a turret gunner at all times. So no, the MG gunner is not useless unless you don't know how to use it.

you dont need to enter in a city to be sniped by a sniper ( :p ), maybe you .50 gunner was lucky

No, but if you enter a city it's much probable to get hit by an AT rocket from an unknown place than if you're out in the open. Cities = good for infantry, open desert = good for armor.
