hi guys i was wondering how you made the promo video, because i have full fraps and when i run it, it bloody laggs like heck!!

because i know you can type something in on the commands list to get rid of the hud and to be able to look around the map, but is that possible in a live round or server?

Yeah I find fraps awful, despite its apparently small size, when turned on your lucky to get 3/4 of normal frame rate.

There is battle recorder(comes with bf2 for free) try playing on Thors Brigade then go to community then you will see the battle recorder file for it.

There's also other programmes available such as gamecam

get up console by pressing tilda or whatever button you have over your tab key.

Type in cl_drawhud0 or something like that, it might be just drawhud0 or there could be a space in between the drawhud and the 0

I'm not very helpful am I?

1. Every server I know has the Battlerecorder off at the moment.
2. GameCam does not work. You get kicked by Punkbuster for having it running.

you can't use free cam in public server unless the admins are stupid enough to have it on, that way in a public game you could go round the map looking for enemy and telling your team etc...

I am sure you could maybe arrange with an admin to have it turned on however.

It is
renderer.drawhud 0
for no hud (1 to turn it on again)
and
renderer.drawfps 1
for your fps (0 to turn it off again)

Even if your game played fine with Fraps,(my game runs fine with fraps on) you can only record your view from the first person perspective, there is no free roam camera for Fraps that records everything going on. I don't understand why server insist on keeping BR off, it does not cause lag no matter how man people say that. I hate having a good round and not being able to go back and look at it.

Battle-Director. You can download it at :
http://www.sircommunity.com

It's like battle-recorder, but much better, as it hides player name tags, in-game HUD/mouse pointer & any on-screen text. You can even render your video with it.

However what I do is I just FRAPS from within Battle-Director, then edit the clips in Sony Vegas. But to make an appealing movie, you'll need to learn how to use camera angles & what not. & just how to film your movie.

But if you want some really good action movies that look coordinated, then you'll need actors & a cast to make the movie look real heroic & what not. But I find that I can make a really cinematic & heroic looking video out of some decent public server footage.

In Battle-Director or Battle-Recorder, I find FRAPS doesn't effect my PC much. Actually FRAPS doesn't effect my FPS to much even in a live game, but I have a good PC...but anyway just use Battle-Director, it's awesome.

You can even start a Local server, and have some friends join it, then record it. To Record bring down the console "~" and type in:

demo.recorddemo "File name"

And to stop recording type in:

demo.stoprecording

then exit BF2, and look in your EAGames/BF2/Mods/Demos folder & make sure it's there...then open up Battle-Director & play it with Free cam...and just FRAPS it! Make sure you set your settings though, like resolution, FPS, hide name tags & HUD etc...
