Commander and the Battlefield.

Ok i said this in another post but im going to advance on that and also anyone who missed that topic wont miss it here.
I think as commander you should not be able to have the same kit as a soldier alocated for a specific role, but the commander should be given his own specific kit.
Comanders to not have access to UAV or any other satelite functions without being in one of the following:

Only the commander or pilots(read below) can enter these areas/ or can go in but not use any equiptment. (obviously)

1,Base HQ (alocated room)

2,Ship or Large water craft alocated quarters

3,Inside the VIP suburban (built in laptop?)

4,Going away from standard ideas here- Aboard an awax or nimrod (unconventional but this is a game). Either one is flown from base or the commander is spawned to either one of them but must remain there for x amount of time if spawning is used. (takeoff would require pilots or mabe just AI flown)

If the commander spawns to aircraft the plane does not need a body and fly around just a basic inside with the commander screen.

This then provides the commander with options. He can enter the battlefield without being a super soldier with commander specific kit (no funny people i dont mean a suit).
Which could but is not limited to carrying:
*Long range binos
*Multi Channel Radio system to talk to ALL the squadleaders/Radio guy (dont know if the radio guy concept was approved by PR)

Just some suggestions as i dont like the idea of commanders running around with UAV screens in there pocket killing people who hide.

Also UAV does not provide any red bleeping of any kind for infantry - visual images should be alll is provided so the commander must look and find only those who are not hidden well enough :)

Providing stupid red names are taken out...

as i said, the commander shouldn't be able to move at all. or maybe just shouldn't be able to shoot any gun. hq etc are good ideas, but the commander should not even come close to the role of a normal soldier.

yes this is an excellent idea. IT gets me so frustrated when the commander runs round doing nothing. this will solve this problem

I've been practising that against bots, and it just can't be done, unless you totally neglect your duties as commander. Placing UAV, Artillery and supplies can be done fairly easy, using the T button. it can't be done easily in jets, and can only be done to areas you can actually see.

giving out orders and granting squads' requests is almost impossible (without crashing)

Well, thats why I hate it, as the 'commander' stops commanding...

But ya, I like these ideas, i think the commander should be a class (along with a slot, have them linked) and he is the only one who can enter a vehicle (certain postion or something of that vehicle) where he gets the commander options and stuff. We need to put a cool BHD style command room in all our maps... hehhehheh

The commander shouldnt be able to man vehicles or have any weapon but maybe a handgun. Gotta love when they hop in our only tank and go rambo and dont even use the commander screen. And mutinys are more annoying than effective.

yeh y is it tht no1 ever seems to care if they hav a shit commander, no1 ever votes a **** commander out! i try and do countless mutinies and every1 is completely useless

I've actually had people finish a mutiny literally minutes before we won the battle. I lost the 2x bonus thanks to some jerk.

lol, im sure u dont do this and u command properly, but im sure most ppl only bcum commander becos it givs them a 2x bonus, its a problem tht needs to be soilved but i dont no how

Well, the bouns doesn't really matter, but the point system should be changed so you get points for actually DOING things as commander. As it is, you get points the longer you are commander, even if you don't do anything at all.

This is an amazing idea...I would love for a command post. It would certaintly solve the problem of hiding in dumpsters

Now does this mean that SpecOps/Snipers will have a field day on the commander? Why yes. Snipers, however, will require the M95 to kill the commander though (to get though the windows).


Obcourse the only person allowed in the command trailer would be a player who is currently commander.

A commander can jump out of the trailer, but wouldn't have access to any of the command functions.

The interior of the Command trailer should have graphics and hudlike information - model it after the inside of jets/helicopters if possible.


Note, the commander should be able to see out of the trailer using mouse-look - heck make him able to move around a bit inside - a small room that only he can enter.

This would give people acces to lots of areas for commanders eyes only :wink: and hopfully lots of toys to play with. Which would sway lots of people to want to be the commander i think.

A nimrod is a reconnaissance aircraft used heavily by the british its primary functions are electronic warfare, linguist and acoustics. Some of its roles include searching for submarines via boyes placed in the water or by looking manually for water marks left by subs called 'feathers in the water'.

Mutinies never EVRER work. you could have the worst commander but it only takes one or two poeple to fail a vote.

The UAV should be an actual object. Dono if thats possible.

Also the UAV should not provide red blips on the mini map for the whole team. It shouldnt even provide any kind of infomation other than an aerial view of the battle field and only to the commander.

Im not a fan of commander mode and what it has done to BF.

I have this idea posted in my other topic but I think it would work better in this topic.

The idea is this: have the commander be a combat controller life they have in the air force; you would end up with a modified T-Button set up I think.

Also if any of you have watched black hawk down, you will remember the combat controllers were in a special black hawk with comm. and survailence gear.

My idea for the above would be to have the comm./CC be able to direct battle from the helo ONLY and have to piloted around, therefore making it even more realistic and somewhat harder so that one man can't just up and decide the fate of the battle. You would have to have a pilot that would help and maybe give some teamwork score to the pilot of the CCs BH.

Another neat part about having a CC(combat controller) only BH(black hawk) would be that it could get shot down; this would require that the pilot be compitent(sp) and stay out of range of missle locks. It would also mean that if the pilot just flew off to the edge of the map it would reduce the effectiveness of the CC; I think the CCs BH could act in the place of a UAV or maybe be an enhanced version of one since it is a stable platform for a host of survailence gear.

And while the commander is flying around on the battlefield giving support he doesent have any weapons he can use right? No minigun attached to his laptop 8)
