Sniper scopes

I dont know if PR can do this, but i think the sniper rifle should have constant sway for the most part, then have it stop for a good 4-5 seconds, then start again, this would be like a snipers breathing pattern, and how they have to exhale before a nice accurate shot.

Even better would be to choose when you hold your breath rather than trying to shoot when the game does it. This way you can shoot when you are ready

^^^^ ive suggested that also. just like a 'sprint' button when your zoomed or in iron sights. Enabling you too hold your breath when you need too. And not for 5 sec either. you should be able to hold your breath for at least 60sec or anything in between but then obv your recovery is larger.

love that idea but y dont u take away from the sprint buton if your hold your breth for that long your not going to be able to sprint after.

I too love the idea of a slight breathing sway of the scope view, and the ability to press a key to hold breathe. Not to mention more zoom on the scope itself would be nice. Penalizing this ability in anyway would be just bad gameplay balance tho. The only thing I`d do is make it so ya can only hold the breathe for a certain amount of seconds. Maybe 5. 5 secs is long time really. The recovery time after a shot is built in already in the reload time.

As well, the scope sway while breathing would be very subtle. Not wildly moving all over. This idea imho is more for immersion into the sniper Class itself. To make the player FEEL more like a sniper. And taking away from the sprint ability is not cool either imho.

Balancing something by any kind of penalty is not balancing. To me balancing done right is refining a thing. Not countering it with unnatural gameplay slight of hand.

breathing is subtle, correct but when your firing over 1000 metres or just 100 that movement is magnified to a whole lot more. If your aim is not still then you will miss the shot.

ALL WEAPONS NEED SWAY.

had to get the point across. it takes A LOT of coding work to get everyweapon to have the right amount of sway in every situation though, so we'll have to wait a bit.

if you mean horizontal sway then i agree but its the easyest to tone down when firing.

Splinter Cell is the best game for realistic sway I've ever seen.

I agree. Patience people. It will be done, i have no doubt about it. :)

To hold your breath for a few seconds is just unrealistic. Snipers are trained to hold their breath for extended amounts of time...sometimes you need more than 5 seconds to properly lead a target.

I like the idea of holding the breath takes away from stamina...I was thinking the same exact thing.

how about make the lead lines in the scope thinner and more closer...

Ya, for snipers, it could be done so that instead of constant little bit of sway, there could be up sway,...still....down sway.....still....

to simulate consant controlled breathing

Yea but set sway is not realistic at all. You would have to wait for the right moment to get your shot.
In reality once you see your target you pause your breathing until you have fired the shot!

what would really be nice for the sniper rifles is zoomable scopes like 2x 4 x 8x based on the weapon your using at the time . although i do like the idea of the breathing hold ya breath you have a smooth shot while ya breathing the rifle sways back and forth

I agree i hope for zoomable scopes and binos for PR. Depending on the gun obviously, some dont have zoomable scopes.

someone mentioned how much sway matters in a sniper rifle because its magnafied, i know this is true from experiance, what some marksmen do is get on of those brown shirts, cut a crtain part of it out, fill it with sand and sew it up. you then deploy the bipods, place the little sandbag under the butt of your rifle and squeeze the sandbag to raise the butt or release to lower it, helps for precise aiming.

i cant find a picture of it unfortunatly.

I mentioned. And what you say would be good for stationary targets but for moving or targets that dont stay in one place for long it wouldent prove much use. The best way is to simply hold the gun as firm as you can and pause your breath until the shot is fire. obviously over long ranges a bipod or make do bipod makes things a lot more consistant 8)

I saw a report on snipers on CNN about two years ago. They interviewed the snipers. One guy said that they hold their breath for about 5 seconds... if they hold it any longer the body reacts to the lack of oxygen and your hands begin to shake.

I think it's a very good idea to have the breath-holding feature be tied into the sprint bar. If you're holding your breath a lot you'll become fatigued and can't run as much. Try holding your breath for a long time and then go running. Run out of air quickly eh?
