Stop being so pessimistic!

I have recently seen loads of threads about entitled "worst PR moments" and "annoying bugs make me hate PR", I have also heard people complaining in game constantly.

So I just want to say to you people: STOP BEING SO BLOODY PESSIMISTIC!

The makers of this mod have spent their free time making something for us to enjoy, I know that the latest release may have some problems but how is making a worst moments thread gonna help anyone?

People always complain about how they hate the G3, hate the QBZ-95, hate AASV2, hate rally points......

I am sure that if you all really think about it you will see that this is by far the best release to date and the developers have worked really hard for no money, so be a little gracious guys.

Don't you see that for every new bug that is made, an old one is fixed (who can honestly say that the m4 being brought back down to mortal levels doesn't far outway the problems with AASV2?)

So thankyou PR devs for this excellent mod, and lets try looking on the bright side of life!

I completly agree with everything you said, so well done for speaking your mind Jedimushroom.
As he said, these guys put a lot of effort into making this mod (for free), so lets have some constructive criticisms in game soldiers, and less complaining.

I guess we are approaching the "crunch time". With 0.5, there was a pretty massive influx of new players. Perhaps enough time has passed since the last release that a certain percentage of these new players will probably decide that PR is not really their cup of tea. Obviously, the rest will stay on because they can see where the mod is headed - and THEY DIG IT like the rest of us.

So, I wouldn't worry too much about people moaning on that they aren't enjoying it - they'll either learn what they need to, start to appreciate the changes or move on. My best advice is to just keep enjoying yourself and help out those people who haven't worked everything out yet. This is the best way to grow a healthy and fun community.

If you hadn't worked it out yet, I think 0.5 is top shelf.

As a "new" player to "Project Reality mod for BF2" I figured I would chime in here and share my perspective.

First a little backround,.Started playing BF with 1942,the expasions SW-RR and played the following mods heavy Desert Combat,Desert Combat-X,Forgotten Hope, EOD, and even the StarWars mod. Then on to BFV and the Point of Existance mod. BF2, again POE 2 and then on to BF2142..........still waiting for a POE2 update,FH2 and anything else that looks fancy...

I tried the "reality" mod for BF2 but DC was rolling and all,.......

Now Project Reality is fantastic and when all is said and done I will be playing this a long time......Unless of coarse Frontline-Fuels of War creams everything.

I have absolute total respect and am very impressed with the work on this mod can't wait for more.

Here it comes.....wait for it..........**BUT** it is in many respects a diffrent game than BF2/2142 and there are things that can frustrate.....such as I had 17 deaths in a map = approx 10 minutes dead out of a 35 minute game = 1/3 of the game dead.....don't worry I had 30 kills to go with the 17 deaths. now I understand and all what PR is trying to do and I TOTALLY SUPPORT them however they choose to do it.........but it was frustrating to me esspecially since I play maybe 5-6 hours a week if Im lucky....if I have to spend and hour of that time dead its very frustrating.....Plus lets face it a few bad minutes in PR seems like an eternity esspecially when you get team killed a few times in a row (don't know if they can give you a faster spawn time if TKed) but it would help. Also please get that server update here,...the frustration of lag and disconnects is eating away my soul....

Here is the saving grace though,......it's almost a totally diffrent game and although I have only been playing 2 weeks in time and as the PR team continues to develope the game I will either get comfy with it or develope a tick everytime I get killed either way its a great mod and hass my support.....

i agree, but remember, everybody on earth sees the glass 1/2 empty.

if you threw any person on earth in the desert with no water for 2 days and on the 3rd put a glass down in front of them and take a pitcher of water and fill the glass 1/2 way up that person will, if not say, think "why didnt he fill it up all the way" no one will be like "good he filled it up 1/2 way, he could of only done it 1/4 of the way" its just the way people are.

I actually think that being a BF2 mod is a bad thing for us heh. People sorta want it to be a fast action game and play it that way.. but that generally doesn't work too well.

Then they ***** about it lol.

I absolutely hate any in game talk about anything other than what's going on in the game.

"This mod sucks, all the guns are teh saem"
"I am eating pizza"
"my girlfriend is teh sechs"

.. all annoying to me heh .. that stuff best kept for forums, irc or .. maybe just not even uttered at all :p

Interesting to hear you comment about in-game playing becuase i remeber on no occation ever seeing you in-game over the last year and i think i play to much!

I presume your ingame name is totaly unconnectable with your forum name for obvious reasons.

I also guess you play alot on testing games with all the other DEVs, where every ones identity is obvious.

But from the average long timer PR fan it can be, well almost anoying to put it very crudely never getting to play the game with the highly talented and commited people who listened so much to the communities ideas and opinons and follow them up with content however never actualy getting to share the brilliant fun with those great people.

So do you ever ever play with the an ingame name similar to "eggman".

COOL IDEA: A planned game in which al the "big names" turn up to one server BUT ordinary players are also allowed along, chance for DEVs and no DEVs to paly together under forum names/ recognisable names.
A small sign up thing on the forum and a password would prevent any problems with harasement, aswell as a small list of basic rules - DEVS decide on (things they dont want, like long lists of questions ext.).

What you think or are most of the DEVs just happy playing amung thier DEV/tester group only mainly??

Topcat wanting to test the warn system again....

OMG, he's using the Jesus defense. Just because you have not seen him in game doesn't mean he doesn't play on a regular bases. Not every one lives in GB Top_Cat. Emagine that some people actually live in a time zone 8 hours behind your own so by the time they are playing your deep asleep having a wet dream about the chearleader from Hero's.........

What you think or all most of the DEVs just happy playing amung their little DEV/tester only mainly??
I can say that when I am able there is not a night goes by that I'm not on a pub server playing for at least an hour. Frankly I have had some great play on pub servers and have gotten some fantastic feadback from pubs.

in game nick is [2JTF]eggman.

Drives me bonkers that people think I want to take notes on their every gripe and issue whenever they see me or any other dev online.

I play a lot .. but usually after a release I only play sporadically to validate issues and because .. frankly .. the quality of play sucks for the first couple of weeks after every release.

Then .. when we get close to another release .. I find the game intolerable because I keep thinking it's going to work like the upcoming release we are testing / dev'ing hehe.

So er.. there's a window somewhere in between a couple of weeks after a release and a couple of weeks before the next release that I play a good couple / few hours a day.

We have a few players that we listen to a lot because they have a good balance between realism, teamplay, fun and probability of do-ability in their feedback. Plus most of the Devs are pretty hardcore players as well, so I tend to be the guy with the stupid and whacky ideas and them the ones to help massage the ideas into something that can actually work hehe.

Yeah, I dislike how players want action all the time.

One of my first time playing .5 was on the most excellent Q. River.
I joined a squad and they were b and moaning about how far they had to walk all the time.

WTF? They were playing grunt kits, and they were complianing about ground pounding. The funny thing was you could hear the emotion in their voice. They were actually irritated over it.

Man, get these guys out of here already.

___

I played a fair amount of .4, and .5 is super super hot compared to it.
I have the up most confidence in the PR team to further make the gameplay more realistic and teambased in .6.

The problem is that so few people actually read the wiki. most of the complaints I see are:
"OMGHAXHEMADEMYSCREENWAVY!"
"Why can I not drop med packs?"
"Why can I not drive APC/tank/chopper/jet?"
Usually followed by a:
"This sux!"
"I hate u all"
"I hate this mod"
"I quit"

Luckily, these people typically have very small attention spans and have quit within a small # of minutes after their complaints.
