Oh man! Is anybody else getting scared of the IED's on Al Basrah! They are freaking everywhere :O

I was driving from the airport to the bridge with another humvee, he takes the left lane I take the right. I make sure to cross like a second behind him so if he gets hit with a IED it doesnt take both of us out. We hit the bridge "BOOM" now im seriously freaking out "IED!!! IED!!!" I gun it and sprint out of there just when I see 1 IED placed on either side of the road! I try to swerve but I get taken out :'(

Hint: just because you don't see an insurgent watching doesn't mean that IED in the middle of the bridge up ahead wont blow right as you pass by....
I've done extensive testing to prove this.

i set ied's so they cant be seen them and with my grappling hook i climb a tree and wait for a convoy. man, they hate me cuz i never miss. tanks are the perfect target, they usually think they invulnerable

not so much IEDs, a vehicle's worst fear are VBIEDs. I duck out of my tank to check if there is a spawn car BOOM, my tank is oblitirated along with the guy in it. I get in the APC that was in our convoy, on the way back to base BOOM another crazy insurgent.

One time, an APC wanted to cross that infamous IED Stone Bridge, so i tell the driver to wait and that i will go check the bridge for any IEDs and such, so i get out the APC, go near the bridge, i spot 2 IEDs using the "enemy boat spotted", then i check that ruined house , no one there, then i swim across the river to check the other side when BOOM, i get blown 500ft in the air

What im saying is, if ur in a APC make sure to step out every once in a while and check for IEDs...it can save lives...


oh yeah, and that APC got blown up cause the driver was a retard and he decided to drive into the IED screaming "Allah Ackber"....

VBIED's really annoy me.

Also, should these things completely destroy an abrams??? I would have thought they would be more likely to just severely damage it to an extent that it can't move + turret disabled etc.

I find it more fun when the tank is totally disabled then when the crew come out, chuck some molotovs on it and finish them off.

Haha, yeah, there was a time when the USMC on Basrah drove north to the slums, turned the corner and stopped. I was heading straight west in the Jihad car with a clan mate and we were screaming Jihaad as I hit the turbo, drove just to the side of the tank and blew it sky high as it was struggling to turn and reverse out of the way

Having checked some videos on youtube it seems to take out an abrams you'd need something mega, as in an actual unexploded bomb.

Vehicle Borne IED.

Basically a car bomb.

It's not so hard to avoid IEDs, just avoid the roads and go offroad through the desert.

Well, the bridges are the issue. But I think it's good as is. Armor and APCs should have mechanized infantry who can clear IEDs before going over the bridges.

VBIEDs should not destroy a tank but only track it. That would be so awesome.

Immobilizing a tank would also be great.
Imagine:
Abrams drives into the city...BOOOM...tracks destroyed.
And then hundreds of insurgents, crying Dirka Dirka, running towards the immobilized tank and pulling the crew out of their seats .

I think the current (VB)IEDs are quite good. I like it this way^^

No, definitely borne.

In an M1 on the STone Bridge i rolled over an IED and was tracked, then as soon as it went off a VBIED came from behind the house and finished me...

I'm not gonna lie.. I cried when I saw such teamwork. It was multiple guys just b/c of the time frame the car was mobile right as thefirst ied was detonated.
