Question re: PR & TacticalGamer & GloryHoundz
Posted: 2007-03-01 00:09
by Crotch-Rot
I see a tight coupling between the PR dev team, Tactical Gamer servers, and GloryHoundz servers in the forums. In-game, I see advertisements for TG as well. Just out of curiosity, what is the relationship between the PR team and TG or GH? Are some of PR devs TG/GH clan/community members?

GH is not a clan, really. It's my server and I'm part of the dev team.

TG are good guys. But as said GHoundz has Fuzz. And I believe GHoundz is "Official" PR Server (Seeing as thought I believe there are 4-5 GHoundz servers used for various purposes). *Thinks back to the days where a quality 8v8 game, 16 Player Zatar Wetlands on Ghoundz was considered PR at its best*

Remember, there are many great players out there. The game isn't about one man guys. Also, I believe only one person really answered Crotch's question. So what about TG?

The maps Phoenix and Inishail Forest were created by |TG| Killrogg. Other members of the TacticalGamer community contributed the billboard designs. Thats how they ended up in those maps.

Tacticalgamer.com also had our own mod, called the
Tactical Mod, that focused on incorporating more realistic elements into the BF2 engine. I believe some of those elements (including the two maps developed for the Tactical Mod - Inishail and Op Phoenix) were incorporated into PR after .4 (i.e. .5). Also, |TG|asch headed up the project management of the Tactical Mod and is now a R-CON with PR.
PR and TG are pretty much a natural fit, since the entire TG community (which spans across many games and mods) focuses on mature, tactics-oriented teamplay with an emphasis on realism.

I try not to play on the TG server anymore, it's the only server that gets bad server lag. I'd rather play on War is hell.

honestly, ive been playing PR alot less since my connection to GHZ has been fucked, havent been able to get in in ages...
lucky for me theres devfile 247 basrah.
igi and osf also have some great regulars, and ive been enjoying the new DVB and of course, warrior nations
one thing that we all can agree on and appreciate, is the fact that PR has such a HUGE server base for a bf2 mod, i mean really, there are a good 10 servers that are almost always high pop, even a few ones with modded spawn times for the people who are in to that

Ditto, get a mic Animalmother!
Simply put, I would say TG and PR both have the same goal, team oriented gameplay. I pretty much move between Devfile, GHz, and TG. My personal favorite servers.

I'd say this thread has moved beyond the original question.
