APC's not able to make it up hills?

Hello all,

(real quick) Dev team great work on the 0.509 server side patch :)

Ok,

I was in an MEC APC squad yesterday on Jabal Al-Burj. This was my first time playing an APC squad on that map, and I have to say that I found it very hard if not impossible in some cases to make it up some of the roads on that map.

I mean this BTR90 is an 8-wheeled All Wheel Drive vehicle, it should be able to make it up the roads; even if it has to do it extremely slow in 1st gear. I can understand it not being able to make it up the non-roads, but it should be able to traverse all in-game roads.

The places I experienced this were up in the mountains near the bridge on the NW side (forgive me on my lack of detail, I am not that familiar with the map), and coming up behind the dam right before the flat part with the flag.

Are there any plans to fix this in the works? Thanks for your time

APCs are getting more engine power in v0.6.

The sprint feature can help until then.

Yeah, I knew about the sprint feature. I just thought it was rather unrealistic. Good to know they are getting some more engine power in 0.6

Are you still going to keep the "Nitros" in 0.6?

I wouldn't say it's unrealistic... in real life, you can increase your speed. Plus it allows you to climb up hills with more ease, which regular speed doesn't allow you to do.

I meant unrealistic in the sense that tank's, and APC's should not be equipped with Nitro's. The game is not "Need for Speed". The APC simply needs more power at lower RPM's, better grip, or whatever parameters the game allows you to modify to increase its ability to climb hills at lower RPM's.

pretty much, right now there like a 90 year old one armed man trying to go up a hill with a wheel chair, its just no good

Are tanks also getting a engine boost in 0.6? and will apc:s have the gear option i read about somewhere that was going to be used for tanks?

Don't think a tank engine boost is needed. They are pretty powerfull now and the speed is alright. I know they are faster in real life, but ingame they are enough imo (this is my personal opinion).

The sprint feature was the closest we got to the multiple speed thing. We are looking at other alternatives as the sprint will not work as intended for that behavior as far as I know.

Doesn't BF2 have the double tap W to spring option, or am I thinking of the wrong game?

Yes, you can either double tap W or Shift + W to sprint.

as for the sprint thing in a APC, its not technically nitrous the devs just called it "boost" so it could be any thing, personally i think of it as "dropping the box" where you knock down the gears to give you more pull.

im willing to bet the APC has automatic in it, with selective drive, like 4/8/water

and will probably go about 60 mph which is about the same a hummer will do so it does need more balls applied, if you dont think it does you have obviously never been off the road before because vehicles will do WAY more then you think they will off road.

and i think Abrams is automatic trans. as well so there should be no gear switching shenanigans. besides forward and backward but time should not be wasted on something of that nature

i just looked it up, they are automatics so stop with this gear switching stuff
