These are screenshots from a BF2 mod called
Hard Justice. Something that I thought would be interesting to discuss. Has anyone played this mod, and if so what is that explosion like in game?
It brings to mind some good scenario modes, or a very, very slow regenerating commander asset. While nukes are not used in current conflicts, a very large bomb can produce similar effects. Those bombs are used in current conflicts. Oh the fun of dropping one of those in a map with the destructible buildings. lo

Like I said, I'm not suggesting nukes, it wouldn't be feasible and there are also the environmental effects that would have to be considered. So I should have called the thread "For those clamoring for large bombs."

True, but imagine hiding behind a wall with a bunch of enemys ahead of you, firing at you when all of a sudden you hear the roar of a jet and you look up to see a huge 5tonne bomb hurling down.

saw that bomb in a video. got a really big explosion! and u get "blinded by the light" for a short period of time. but there isn't "wind" and the other effects an atomic bomb provides. the bomb and some other nice things are made by SatNav.

I saw a promo video for that mod a long time ago and they showed the nuke going off. It was dropped from a jet.
The biggest problem they had, (at least at that time; i do not know if they fixed it or not,) was that regradless of the angle of terrain it hit, the mushroom cloud would go straight up. It looked fairly funny hitting the side of a mountain and going straight up in the air.

Smoke alway go up, even if your fire is sideway... I guess it's the same for nuclear mushrooms..

The mushroom cloud is hardly going to be rising up at an angle to the terrain.

Keep in mind that even the smallest military nukes would obliterate almost everything in an area the size of the largest BF2 maps.
I don't see these being part of PR, tho the explosion effect is cool (but can be a little buggy).

DC for BF1942 had a scud and it would kill everything and everyone in side a 100m radius, it was dirty (aka cheap).

maybe adding a MOAB would do. its the largest non-nuclear bomb for the us (I think). It can obliterate 16 city blocks. it would destroy a good part of the al basrah city, maybe even the whole thing.

Let me say again that NUKES are not feasible. The size of that blast depicted is no where near the size of a nuclear bomb. I'm talking about simply just a larger bomb. Though in the future with possible larger maps a larger bomb would make more sense. Granted it would have to be limited in some way. As in a one time, last line of defense weapon? Commander only type asset. Just suggestions.
