I, as many of us, heard that the Soflam may eventually be used as a laser designator. I think this is awsome and had an idea about it. What if the planes no longer had the little green boxes in their HUD pup up showing ground targets, and they would only see them and deliver accurate munitions if they were designated. This would force pilots to work with special forces on the ground in order to be able to see where ground targets and vehicles are and hit them. It would also allow ground vehicles to operate without always being seen from aircraft overhead.

Or, maybe they did have the little green box and the intruduction of a red marker ON the HUD to signify a target to be blown sky high. Maybe it would teach the insurgents that really opium isnt in any good job description, nor is terrorism.
