Team Killing

Hey gang.

I have been playing PR for a few weeks now. I am really loving this mod! I love infantry combat where sneaking is actually an advantage rather than just quake style run and gun or heli mowing down people etc.

So very much love the mod! I pretty much love everything about it except I would like to see more standard weapons have scopes, even if they can't zoom too far.

My biggest gripe so far is team killing. It's way too common. I know the goal of PR is to be reality based but I think relieving a bit of this will make the mod hugely less frustrating which means more fun! I think team killing is too common because when I put my cross hairs near a teammate it doesn't go blue or green quick enough so I either end up delaying, and dying because PR dying is a matter of who gets the shot off first, OR I killed a teammate.

This is also damn near impossible from long distance sniping because I only have a few pixels I am shooting at, there is no way to identify at that length.

As I said I know PR is about reality but I think I would like a bit of relief on this team killing. Either the clothing is drastically different in colour so people can easily identify in fast combat situations, or better UI indications, like names showing up much much more clearly etc.

Just a though. I think adjusting that would make this mod pretty much perfect for me :)

Thanks and take care!

Hold on.
Seriously, don't be sniper if your hardware can't handle it.
Personally, I can get away with 1280x1024 x2AA with everything high except lighting, with a 6600gt.

For friendly fire, you shouldn't be in a position where the enemy can shoot you, although this a game and everyone has disregard for their lives, and just don't give a f*ck. They storm places and just charge at anything a la arcade style.

Personally, I don't think we should have name tags at all. If people can't be bothered to play properly, and shoot anything that moves infront of them with out checking. Then I just can't be bothered.

How many times have you seen friendly fire on Arma or Ofp?
Maybe we should try locking (only walking) the running in 0.6 and see what happens.

Erm, its a realism mod, i know guys, hang on, when i first joined the forum i made a similar post. Write a letter to your local politician and request that all armed forces get weapon modifications of their choice with cost as not an problem. I'm sure that if they even had the deceny to reply, it wouldnt be a very polite letter.

Adding scopes to every weapon would make the game distasteful, pointless and down right criminal. If you added scopes to every weapons then we would have Medics operating as snipers and would never help you if you needed it because it would give away their position.

Like i was todl about team killing (and never do since), take your time, identify your target. The enemy probably has the same problem as you. Be sure of yourself or you will end up havign an not to pleasent court martial, well, maybe not but you wouldnt be invited to a squad any time soon. If you cant identify him, chances are he cant identify you.

PR isnt about who gets the shot oof first.. Its about discapline, correct spelling, responsibility and waiting for the right target.

Look for patterns of the uniform. Keep your aim and try to identify him before he does you.

Ok well chill here for a second bud lol.

My hardware is fine. Dual core ATI x1950 so yes I can run high res high settings as well.

My point being if your using a non-marksman non-sniper, weapon but trying to peg someone off from a long distance (lets say other squads are coming from another angle than you are, because yes, not everyone on your team is coming from the same spots) its really hard to identify.

If you read my post, I didn't say those were the ONLY options, they were just suggestions. Although names above players is convenient I do agree its not the proper solution for this type of issue. I think maybe more clearly distinctive differences between clothing would help. The one map where one team is white clothing and the other team is brown I don't seem to have this issue, and I have also noticed people don't shoot me by accident as much in that map compared to the others where both are in brownish clothing.

Yes I agree with your points, but unfortunately the combat situation is not always ideal where your getting the opportunity to monitor your target before firing. Sometimes you peek over a hill and there is a squad there looking at you. If you don't fire your dead.

In reality you have radios among squads, but in Battlefield you do not, so your not entirely aware of who is where. Theres nobody communicating to you the full situation.

Also as a comment, it doesn't have to be a every game wide setting, if its configurable then people who run their servers can decide how they wish to run them. Maybe some sort of "level of realism" setting.

Anyways if you want to blast me again go for it. I am just bringing some constructive critisism from I wouldn't say a newbie but fairly new player.

Thanks and take care.

The only thing that pisses me off is the occasional asshat that puts rounds down on your position and then punishes you when you automatically return fire.

what i liek to do is get medic kit, kill a teammate and then revive them.

usually if they punish me, they stay dead.. harsh but fun :)

Ok well first off, I would reread what I wrote. I never said to every weapon. I think the one faction which had the 1 special ops which has the short range scope I would like to see something similiar for all factions, so each team has 1 standard scope even if its not a very good performing one.

Please understand, 1, ONE scope, not every lol.

One thing I suggest for this forum is, you might as well close this suggestions forum if all its going to be is people suggest something, and people trash them.

Constructive critisism is always welcome, but what I am reading is very childish. Nowhere in my comments am I saying this absolutely has to be done. I am just giving MY POINT OF VIEW.

Love the mod however, having a great time with it!

Thanks and take care.

hehe yeah. These are the sorts of things that I see happening because people aren't identifying. I've done that where me and another person are looking at each other for awhile, I have identified them as non-danger then **** they start firing at me WTF lol.

Thanks and take care.

mini map is located in the top right corner of your screen, it displays where your friends are on the map.

when ever its a if i dont shoot first i will die situation it will always be up close and you will be able to tell who is on your team and who is not, if its really far away and you cant tell then you have plenty of time to check map/duck/ listen to gun sound/ other things.

but i do think that if you are TKed you shouldnt have the super massive spawn time that you do when you are normally killed, you should get a small one, then it wouldnt be so annoying to be tked and i would do much less flipping out overall

So very, very, VERY agreed. Especially when you had your back turned to them in the first place.

it's all about the mini map and keeping track of what's going on.
Use the Caps lock key to check the bigger picture and move and zoom to see what your teammates are doing.
In a very short time you won't be TK'ing or being killed while waiting for the name to pop up.
It does not work every time and sometimes blue and red and closely mixed, which means you don't shoot and stay low until you can ID a target.

I would LOVE to see a shortened spawn time for TK's !!!!

.

erm, if everyone had scopes. it wouldnt become a snipe fest, the range of engagement would increase, and the game would slow down (much like earlier ghost recons)

which is NOT a bad thing

Get outta There!!

I ain't blasting, it's just I hear many comments about people blaming their hardware for TK's.

Frankly, I don't like twitchy coffee addicted ten year olds either.

I may TK, but thats when there is a bunch of enemy and some poor fool is at them a la BF2v (sprint in front of the in full auto), sadly getting in my bullets ways.

I just LOVE it when some Teammate comes round a corner and just let's it rip!
