I have the same problem.
The M249 seems use less.
I hammered a guy, SERIOUSLY hammered him with the m249.
He goes prone an kills me with one shot. One Shot!
Un-f*ck*ng-believable

Lag induced. The SAW is an awesome gun. I got the same feeling that is a bit off compared to the others at distance... but not by much.

I agree that it is not quite as good as the other support guns, which is very unrealistic.

I had an instructor once give me grief at a range once because of how accurate the SAW is. We were on the M240B range which has targets from 100 meters all the way out to 800 meters. Instead of using the normal 5 round burst to drop the targets (regardless of distance up to 700 meters) I was only using single or 2 shot bursts. I figured I was still killing the enemy while conserving ammo. Guess thats why I'm a medic (soon to be FO) and not a machine gunner.

whats long range for you? imho it works well up to 300m or something.

I've never had any problem with it myself. Worst case scenerio just use longer bursts and walk your tracers on target. I've been able to wipe out entire squads with it from range.

you must realize that with .5 the recoil and where the bullets land are two very separate entities. ive noticed that recoil is random and where bullets land is also random deviation. its out of synch is can say that

I never engage at that long of a distance with the SAW. But with a medium distance is fine. Like on EJOD, if you get up to the roof east of where the flag for square used to be, you can engage targets very successfully to the west between those buildings. Sorry, I can never think in terms of in-game meters.

I find when a target is running sideways, even at fairly close range, I struggle to hit him with the SAW.

But at long distance its just supressing fire, which player don't really give a $h1t about. So the moral is suppressing = nothing.

Just aim in the general direction and hold the trigger pressed

that usually works, a bit

I love the SAW, i have no problem hitting at long range with it. just crouch or go prone because it has alot of deviation after the first three shots while standing and about the first five while crouching. prone its accurrate in bursts of ten or more. always fire in short bursts and compensate for the recoil by dragging the mouse down. I can even score kills with the SAW on the open feilds of ejod desert when firing short bursts. extended fire is only effective at ranges less than 40 meters

We are going to take a look at the support weapons long range engagements in the next dev cycle.

Short burst kids short burst.
But i do find that the M249 cant hit shit at a long distance. Its a good weapon to do alot of suppresing fire for tho cuz it has 200 rounds rather than the PLA and MEC's 75 to 100 round.
