I try to be a team player, but somehow I literally can't stop point-whoring

Recently I've been noticing just how horrendus my win/loss ratio is in Project Reality. Honestly, I never concern myself with points or kill/death ratio when I play. I just try to do what I think is best for the team...but appearantly...its not...
Since I don't have a ridiculously low kill death ratio or anything it would seem I am an unintentional point-whore.
Does anyone have any advice...or know how this could be happening?

I'm confused. How can you be a point whore? You've got a negative KDR...

well....Killing people helps your team and killing people gives you points, therefore getting points helps your team.

Get in a squad and stick with them...dont go running off on your own if you see and enemy..communicate with the squad and let them know where he is by spotting and talking in VOIP. Simple

You're trying and if it is an actual problem(and it likely isn't) then it'll go away on it's own. Hell, I didn't think I'd be able to function in a squad a few weeks ago because I hadn't played prmm in so long and I was just running off on my own half the time. A little while later and I was doing fine.
Blackhawk, you've got an awesome avatar.

I use tab to confirm a kill. If I had 9 kills before I shot, and 10 kills after, my target is probably dead.
I point-whore, but I'm still helping my team. I try to point-whore on the outskirts of a flag, so my team mates capping it have less trouble.

What do you call "point-whore" exactly ?
Running around alone and kill people ?
Just do the same thing... but near/with your squad...

the best way to get a decent K :d and help the team is too not think about it, a watched pot never boils afterall (something like that isn't it).
For instance last night on mao valley i managed to bagt the sniper at start and thought i'm really gonna try and kick some *** at the village. as it goes i mnanaged to get 8 before i got gang raped by an entire squad on the large hill south village since i didn't relocate. Then when i couldn't get the sniper back i was kinda disappointed so i just rejoined with my squadmates and had a laugh by nading, spraying and knifing my way through the jungle with the lads. By the end of the map i was 45 - 3 and our team strolled to victory.

I'm probably one of the most selfless players in existence. When there aren't any medics, I'll go medic, despite the fact that I passionately HATE the medic guns. Drive people around in a tank, chopper, boat, APC, and more un-thanked roles.
I usually end up with 8-20 or such scores.

Do transport runs. Its good teamplay.
Or be a driver instead of a gunner.
Or drive around the supply truck and repair the tanks and apc assets.

Lets all give a tribute to the Beegees. All together now "stayin alliiiiiihaaaaiiiiiiihaaaiveeeeehaiiiaaaaive"
Seriously. What ever floats your boat. If you have more fun collecting points, then do so. For me? It's more about who I am playing with, and how well they can do if you support them. Either way, as long as "another one bites the dust" (another song - we can sing that one later) it is still in the best interrest of the team.

No.
I join a squad whenever I can, and use VOIP whenever I can. Infact, I'm pretty sure I played with Hx.Clavdivs on a squad with VOIP at one point (Qwia River, IIRC). The reason I feel like some kind of unintentional point-whore is because my win/loss ratio is disproportionately bad compared to my kill/death ratio:.
I mean, was there some major change in the gameplay mechanics I'm missing? Have certain objectives become more valuable and I'm not compensating with additional effort to obtain them, or visa-versa?

...Oh right, everybody else has a gatling gun but the medic is stuck with an M16.

Actually the M16 is the only med gun I like.
Chinese medic gun pisses me off, British med gun pisses me off,
I miss the AK as the Chinese medic gun.
Same with MEC, prefer AK for med gun, not G3.
Insurgent's AK is good, but doctor is useless since you can't revive.

Teamplaying and "point whoring" can be combined easily.
